P.S. I see you showed her how to put the goof plug in when you set the perch/can support dowel in the wrong place. Did you say SHHH, don't tell mommy, she won't notice...Loring in Katy, TX USA

Good on ya Richard and I hope when my girls are 15 they want to work in the shop with me. Not sure they will though. Neither one of them likes loud noises.David

That's excellent on so many levels! I hope I can share project like this when my kids get a bit older.
You must be proud!
The double-tasked dowel is very clever, btw.
oh -- how do you hand it?online at http://www.theFrankes.com

So it actually hangs on a branch or something as opposed to being nailed up? Will the screw eyes go into the top of the roof or the front/back?
I think I might try a project like this with my son... He's too young to handle most of the tools still, but I think maybe the drill press and some nailing might be okay...online at http://www.theFrankes.com

What I did was put the screw eyes into the roof-kitty corner about and inch in from the front/back edge and about 2/3 down from the peak. I don't have any trees big enough in my yard but I do have a gable over my back gate that's around eight feet up. I plan on mounting a bracket from there. From the "deep south" part of Canada

Sorry Alex, didn't see your last post until just tonight. The house we built has a 1 3/4 inch hole that is centered to the can. It's kind of generic as we mostly have sparrows and they are not too picky. If you want a certain type of bird, it's best to research the bird to see what it is they like. Most bird house books I have seen usually have some sort of appendix with this info. From the "deep south" part of Canada
