Daughter number one loves to hang around in the shop with me. She is 15 and spend many evenings working on the shed door project of this past summer. Recently she wanted to build bird houses. I went out and bought some cedar and found a good bird house project that we could do in a night or two. After some safety talks about using power tools, we started at it. Daughter #1 helped with the CMS and the table saw, although she let me do most of the cutting. She had no problem with the drill press though.
Here she is counter sinking the roof parts.
She found the ROS tickled her up to her elbows(lol).
Everything was glued and screwed together.
And the screw holes were filled with plugs.
The final project.
The "house" portion is actually a can, sandwiched in the cedar and pinned in place by a 1/2" dowel running the length of the bird house and extending as a perch. We finished it with a coat of tung oil and spray enamal for the can.
Thanks for having a look. My daughter says who needs shop class when she has me
