My daughter has one last project due for school before the end of the year. As they are doing optics, she wanted to make a periscope. So down to the shop we go. Here's what we came up with. Not an heirloom but a great deal of fun.

Cool, I remember making one from cardboard as a kid. My grandson has been talking more about coming to work in Grandpa's shop next month than his trip to Puerto Rico with his stepmom in August

My daughter is thrilled with all the comments made here. She did most of the cutting on my scroll saw and I cleaned up the cuts for her. We used hot glue to join everything as that's what they use in her shop class( go figure eh?). My daughter took it into school for grading on wednesday. Although she didn't get her grade yet, not only was it well received, it was the only one made from wood! Thanks for supporting a grade eight student.From the "deep south" part of Canada

Richard, I know what kind of satisfaction you got out of working on this with your daughter. My oldest just finished the 9th grade and we built a Newton Car about a month ago. It was a memory that I will cherish for quite a while.Comment
