    Canoe

This is my canoe I built and finished up around August of 06 (started in July of 05). It is made out of Western Red Cedar with expoy/fiberglass.
Now I am looking at mounting a motor on it as I am lazy. I live less than a hlaf hour from Cabela's (actually the number one tourist destination for the state of Michigan) and they sell them there. Built using my BT3100 -- the only thing I didn't do were the seats -- I made the frames and then paid a lady to cane them.
    Thanks for looking,
    Ryan

A wooden canoe, that's beautiful work, with a BT3, no less.

        cedar strip canoe?

        Ryan,

That is really nice - there's just something about a wooden canoe that I've always liked.

I hope this isn't a stupid question - is that a cedar strip canoe?

Also, what is the darker piece at the back of the canoe? Is it wood or metal?

Thanks for everyone's nice comments. Indeed it is a Cedar-strip canoe, T-Bone.
The black portion is just boat-paint -- the plans called for two layers of fiberglass cloth on each end of the canoe to give those areas more strength. For some reason the cloth turned a sickly yellowish color at this area so I tried to make some sort of design to cover it up.

I am looking to make a canoe in the coming months. Did you buy plans or just wing it?

BTW This is my first post.

That is a very sharp craft. If I made it, you could use it for an anchor.
