    A year in the making!

It has been a little over a Year since I started working on my Kitchen. After I priced ready maid cabinets I decided to build my own. As it turns out I have spent about as much as what they wanted for the ready maid basic cabinets.
BUT!! When I started out I had an old table Saw, Router, Circular Saw and various hand tools. I now have a shop filled with a new BT3100, RAS, 6 inch Grizzly Joiner, Router table, band saw, dust collection system, Hanging air cleaner, Dewalt DW735 Planer, two random orbit sanders, a bunch of clamps and a lot of little things. Plus I built a wall and sectioned off a portion of the basement for a shop. I was working in the garage and the open basement. Cold was a problem in the garage and dust was a problem in the basement.

Thanks to this site I have learned many new skills. I asked a few questions along the way. However, Most of what I learned was from just searching on a topic and reading. Example… Face joining a board to make it flat before paining.. I never did that before.

Yes, there are some DNA samples in hidden areas in case anyone in future years wants to figure out who built them!

Here are a few pics of the final product. There are no shelves in any of the bottom cabinets. They are all pull out drawers on full drawer extensions. They are also put together with dovetails…because I love my HF dovetail jig… .NOT! I included a pic of the silverware drawer. The sides are ¾ with the drawer slides for the top tray mortised into the inside of the drawer and reversed.

Holy cow that looks great! Those drawers are bombproof! What a great installation--you should be incredibly proud.

Awesome! It looks like the dovetail jig did you right, too.

Lovely, lovely job. I will confess that this look is not quite my personal "style," but your craftsmanship is superb. I'm facing a long-overdue kitchen remodel myself and will keep your high standards in mind when I start building my own cabinets.

Lee what a beautiful job. Your LOML must be real happy and you have enough brownie point to last a few months . You can be real proud of your work. My LOML has been pushing for new cabinet maybe in the spring I will start.

when we bought the house their were old burch plywood cabinets. They had turned dark and someone attempted to refinish them. We sanded and primed, and painted some. We also took some others out. This was a temp fix.

Fantastic transformation! I like the drawer idea and the lighted end cabinet is a beautiful touch.

Wow, what a transformation! Certainly worth the wait. As for the DNA samples, I don't consider it an offical project until a bit of blood has been shed!
