    New Hand Wheel for BT3100

Last week I bought a used handwheel on eBay for my BT3100. From the picture I knew it wasn't OEM, but also knew it wasn't the metal BT3000 hand wheel.

I received it today and was pleasantly surprised to find that it looks like it is nearly new condition and fits perfectly.

I'm also pleasantly surprised that it is more heavily built than the OEM BT3100 set up.

This thing weighs about 5 ounces more, the grab handle doesn't wobble around and feel like it's going to come off at any time and even though it's made of plastic, it's much higher quality than the original.

An interesting note, the grab handle is held on with a rod/dowel and a circlip, not a bolt with a nylock nut.

As far as I can tell, this thing was originally for a Sears 21829.

So if you need a good replacement for your Ryobi, don't be afraid to buy the Sears replacement knob.

I'll get some tomorrow and show both the OEM and my replacement.

I'd like to see some pictures of the shaft side as well as the front.

It sounds a lot like the BT 3000 handwheel.
I swapped those out when I traded my 3000 to my FIL and installed the old 3000 handwheel on the 3100. My inlaws finally made the move so we could help take care of them, so they are living right next door. So is the 3000 with the 3100 handwheel.

Here are some pictures of the hand wheels. The one with yellow is the OEM, the grey and black is the one I just bought.

It's not like my 21829 handcrank. The outer edges of my 21829 crank are like the OEM one you have shown, but with grey plastic spokes and no yellow. I'm guessing it's a BT3000, or maybe the earlier craftsman version.

That is a 3000 type. It is a nice handwheel.

This is my replacement hand wheel. I always though it was from the Craftsman clone.

Thanks all! I certainly like this wheel much better than the old one. It has a nice solid feel and positive engagement while the old one always felt like the hand wheel on my long lost BTS-10 that broke about the third time I used it.

Dal3000's replacement wheel is from a BT3000, sadly not the metal one, but still a decent enough handwheel.

Jnesmith's if I remember right is from the 22811. Not sure how available those are, but I personally like the look of that one the best... Might be worth filling the non functional voids in the back with epoxy to stiffen it up...
