Don't drop your fence on the corner of the head piece...

    They break...

Don't ask me how I know, but I am expecting a shipment from M&D Mower soon... I might just use the tube innards, and tail piece from the BT3000 fence as they are in cleaner shape...

BT3000 fence (left) BT3100 fence head piece (right). How do you guys with BT3000s know what you are setting the fence to? What's the pointer?

Not sure how well you can see this, and I am too tired to edit / adjust the image right now... The head piece snapped off right where it changes direction. The thinness of the casting was a little surprising, but should have stood up to what happened to it. Just a freak kind of thing I guess.

I am hoping and praying M and D ships FAST so I can get back to work. For now I will use the BT3000 fence make sure it's parallel, and set it with a tape measure for close enough cuts. I am just doing garage shelving right now, so close enough is, well... close enough.

The pointer is a little clear plastic piece with a red stripe that screws onto the headpiece (you can see the screw hole in your top photo). Yours seems to be missing... There is a similar piece supposed to be on your BT3100 headpiece also, I think...

the pointer (clear plastic with red graticle) screws to the body of the head piece, on your BT3100 it should be in the rectangular windows either side of center (there's two screw holes to mount it on your choice of sides.
The BT3000 there's no surround for the plastic piece, it just hangs over the scale. There's one screw hole to the right of the handle for this. (apparently no choice of sides).
The pastic has a bend in it so the top half with the screw hole lies flat against the headpiece and the lower half lies parallel to, and over the scale on the front rail.

I have a new Scale window on order as well. My OEM one is still okay, but the red line in it is almost gone....

I can use that on the BT3000?

try it and see, the angle of the dangle should be the same.
Offhand, I think the BT3000 and probably the BT3100 attach to the inside/underside of the head piece, the indicator part hang below it and are visible. Maybe an inside nut holds it on attached to the screw mentioned before???
