I believe that Sears has a deal not with Ryobi but with TTI directly.
I base this on the fact that the box my 19.2V cordless set came in had TTI all over it.

As of 4:18 on 4-27-06 you can still order a BT3100 from the borg website. So you ought to be able to order one from the store (albeit at the higher $299 price). As for not being in Ryobi's catalog, I also contacted them and they still sell it. Not all manufacturers release all tools at the same time, so it could be a bit before we see the new one.
Unfortunatly the Ridgid lines are getting more attention with all those home redecorate/remodel/diy type shows. I am sure that has cut into sales and given them the reason to let it lapse from stores.

No BT3100 at the local BORG tonight. Just two accessory kits where the display model used to be.

While the BT3100 is not in the catalog it is still on the website. Not real comforting but something. Local BORG's still have them (Columbia SC) and display them although they have something like the Sears version too.

I noticed that HD still have the BTS10, 15, and 20 listed on their website also.

I was in my local HD today, and they still had the BT3100 on display, if you can call it that. They also had 3 overhead that I could see. The display was marked $299.00 with the rebate for the accessories. Bill

One of the store here does not have any BT31K left. I noticed there were plenty of other Ryobi models.

I had two minds to get me a 2nd one... but let the wrong side of me brain win :-(

The 'cybil' in me kept arguing for the 'sanity' of the following argument... but alas:
. Just buy another BT3100 (for spare parts etc...) for $250
. Buy other tools for $420
                    . That's a total of $670
                    . Use the 10% HD coupon I had but expired 4/30 :-(
                    . Final total = $670-$67 = $603
. Apply for the $125 gift card
. Sell the gift card for $100
That could've 'theoretically' brought the BT price down to:
                    (90% of $250 - $100) = $125

Now strategically placing these two saws back to back, I could've had:
. one helluva outfeed setup :-)
. rip blade on one, dado set on another
. Mount two routers - one for rails/stiles and the other for raised panels
. and last but not the least, sacrifice one when needed...
                    all for $125 - can't be beat, I thought

If you see the logic in this argument, pl. 'be your guest' without much ado

                      5 BT's in El Cerrito,CA HD. SF,CA area.(Berkeley/SFO)

I posted it in the Bargains discussion area, but note that there were 5 BT3100's by the front door as of 9PM last night when I bought mine. I called ALL the SF area stores and these were the only ones I could find for REAL in stock. They seem to have some difficulty tracking their physical (vs. computer) inventories. But they DO have a big job tracking all that dtuff in real time.

My local BORG (Edison,NJ) has not had any 3100's for over 6 months. I went there today to get some glue and they have 2 3100's NIB!!! Dunno what the deal is with discontinuation, etc.

I just had my wife find me a BT3100 today. It seems that there was only 1 store in San Antonio that had any, and they had 4. She said that the guy told her that they have not sold any in months.
Just think of something witty and pretend you saw it here.
