RIDGID AC9955 SuperClamp Workstation @ HD $34.03 YMMV

Got this today at my local HD store. I passed on it when it was priced @ $89.00 a week ago but today it was priced at $34.03 and it was too hard to resist.

oh, you mean a jawhorse? I didn't know what all that meant and had to look it up. $118 on their website.

Amazon has several attachments for Jaw Horse on sale. Wonder if they fit Ridgid.

The Ridgid sure looks similar to the Jawhorse. Ridgid on the left, Jawhorse on the right.

The Ridgid also looks to be a close cousin to:

          Portamate Megavise

          Triton Superjaws

I have a Jawhorse and I find it handy to have as a quick worktable. I can clamp a 2' x 4' piece of plywood as a table and not worry about it tipping. It's on the heavy side, but it doesn't take up as much room as using two sawhorses.

I have no experience with the other brands, but if you can snag one at $34 you should grab two.

I agree with Brian, the two he linked too are almost identical to the Ridgid. Much more so than the Jawhorse. That being said, the working parts on all four look to be somewhat similar.

If the Jawhorse is that unlike the other three, it seems worthwhile to see the difference.

I have the Portamate version (I posted a bargain alert when they were closed out at Menards for $78). I'd say $40 is a GREAT deal for these. Love them. LOVE them.

However, I have takan a close look at the Rockwell version, and I think it's a MUCH better version. But not $150 better.

I have the jawhorse and one thing i notice off the bat is the larger 'vise' area, which is nice to have for clamping, and a flat overhang which would be nice to better supporting some sort of table top you may clamp in the vise...

Don't know if that really is worth the extra cost though...
