Anyone Not Receive The Lee Valley Email?

For those not on Lee Valley's email list they are currently offering a 12 gauge, 15' Extension Cord for $9.50. This is a while supplies last sale so I'd get in on this as soon as possible if you're interested. That $9.50 even beats the Harbor Freight price they're asking for their 10' versions by half a buck.

I'm not on their list (too many already). But, thanks for the heads up.

Watch out for the $7.95 shipping charge.

Thanks for the notice Dave... looks like a good deal. I think I'll grab a couple... along with a few other items I've been meaning to get.

Thank you. Tempted, but I really need one that will allow me to use more than one tool with it.

I now live about 1.5 miles from the flagship store...dangerous. Anyway, went to pick up an order and walked out with 3 of them, they are very well made as well as well priced.

just out of curiousity, I calculated the value of copper in this extension cord.
19.77 lbs per 1000 foot for 12 gauge copper wire.
              15 feet x 3 conductor = 45 feet
total weight of copper =.89 pounds
30 day futures price of copper $4.20 per pound

Value of raw copper in $9.50 15-ft. 12 gauge extension cord = $3.73
not incl labor and overhead to draw, strand and insulate wire, jacket the cable, and to connect and mold plugs and package and ship to retailer.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

In that case then after you add in all the unknown expenses you couldn't itemize and heaven forbid a little profit that $9.50 price tag is pretty reasonable. As is true with many products, raw material costs are but a small percentage of the total cost involved in bringing a product to market.

I ended up buying a combined order with people from work which cut down on the shipping cost. Can't wait for them to arrive.

for my purposes, i bought a 100' 12-gauge cord from costco and cut it down into many sizes with HF plugs.
