This looks like a typo that has been fixed.

    The current price is $19.98.

Choose the South San Francisco store, it's $9.98. Seems to vary store to store. A San Jose store I just tried says $9.98 as well.

Came up the same for the San Marcos store. I need to return a piece of copper pipe. May have to see if it is in stock.

Thanks, been wanting one of these. Played around with the store locator and zips until I found one that was convenient and had the price.

In this area, some stores have it for $9.98, while others have it for $19.98. BTW...is the meter accurate? Anyone have one of them?

I might use one for pine. Then again, maybe it's one of Lowes Gems.

What's so funny? Are you saying you have one and it's not accurate?

This meter gets decent reviews on Amazon, but they say the accuracy is +/- 3%. Many comments say it's great for checking firewood & water damage.

No I don't own one and what I found funny was that it took until the sixth posting in this thread before someone raised the question about accuracy. I don't direct this necessarily to the OP but it makes little sense to me to post something in Bargain Alerts just because its seemingly inexpensive but the quality/accuracy is unknown. As I've said in the past, just because something happens to be cheap in price doesn't necessarily make it a bargain. This particular product could very well be accurate and of high quality, I don't know, but so far neither does anyone else.

The IRT207 Infrared Thermometer from General Instruments is $9.98 as well. I did a couple of quick search and found a couple of other web sites having it listed at the $39.98 price listed as retail at Lowes.

I ordered one of each and will check them out to see if they are any good.

I grabbed one each of the meter and the thermometer yesterday. If the website says your store has it for the $10 price you can probably just walk in and buy one, you don't have to order online.

The thermometer seems to work good. It says the surfaces in my house are within a degree or two of what my a/c thermostat is set to, and it's consistent within a degree or two from surface to surface. That's plenty good enough for my usage.

I haven't opened the meter yet. I assume it's not highly accurate, but it's better than my current moisture meter. Currently I pick up a board and if it's sticky I say it's wet, if it's not sticky I say it's dry. This meter is probably more accurate than that.
