Ridgid 18 volt lithium ion drill

Home Depot has an online sale for the above drill at 50%off. Go to their website and find the drill and add it to your cart to checkout. Use the promotion code "pres50" and the price will drop from $199 down to $100.

It only comes with 1 battery and charger, but according to customer service, it does come with a carrying case.

With taxes and free shipping I bought 2 at $107.46 each. This sems like a good deal for those of us that wanted a lithium ion drill but did not want to pay the price.
    Good luck,

    Conwaygolfer

Just spoke with customer service again and it does NOT come with a carrying case!!

      The drill came today

Apparently the lady in customer service was wrong. I was told it only had one lithium ion battery - but it comes with 2. Along with the charger and a nice canvas carrying case.

Last I looked, the deal is still going on, but now you have to pay $4.95 for shipping. Not bad paying half price for a new Ridgid drill with full warranty.

remember to register the tool with ridgid for the lifetime service agreement (LSA). there are all too many posts @ ridgid.com of owners either forgetting to send in the required documentation or not keeping copies of the documentation for followup. then when a tool needs service after the 3 year warranty expires, ridgid refuses due to no registration. it's imperative that the registration process be confirmed by the tool owner. the program works regarding repairing tools, but it's up to the owner to make sure it's properly registered.
there's a solution to every problem.......you just have to be willing to find it.

So yeah, there's two Rigid drill deals. One is listed as the Drill promo, which only has one battery. But the other SKU has two batteries and is $199 originally.

I gotta bit on this one.

            The Drill Promo

is listed at $99.00 but the discount code will not work on that one. Plus on Monday when I ordered mine, you had to pay shipping on the promo. That ended up costing $7.00 more than the $199.00 with 50% off. So I bought 2 at the total cost of $107.00 each. Better deal than the promo. Of course now they charge $4.95 to ship the one with 2 batteries.

Forgot to mention I was in HD this morning and the cost is $199.00 off the shelf

I'm torn on this. I've liked the Rigid Corded drill I have a lot. However, I'm looking at the reviews for the Rigid cordless drill and they're not very good.

If I buy the Rigid kit for $99 and then the impact driver, I get the drill, driver, and 4 batteries with a lifetime warranty for about $240.

For about $260, I can get the Makita drill and impact driver combo, which is rated much better than the Rigid.

Sure, the Rigid has a better warranty, but Makita's drill gets top scores in all categories.

              What do you guys think?

I'd get Makita. Though, Ridgid has lifetime warranty, as I heard it is very difficult to get warranty service, you may wait for parts, including batteries, MANY months.

Yeah, I brought a Rigid recip saw in to one of their service locations (not a store), and it turned out not being the model with the lifetime warranty. And they were really difficult to work with too. I'd hate to have to go back!

I'm still on the fence though. There's more batteries going Rigid to consider.

                    I'm the odd man out.

I have the Ridgid combo tool kit bought back in Feb.06 with two batteries. They went south a few months ago and took them to the Ridgid tool center with my warranty card and they replaced them on the spot. The tools are heavy and were used in the construction/electrical field for a couple of years with no wear out of the tools.

I have been holding out on the Makita lxt211 too. They have a hammerdrill / driver set for $274-$299 on Amazon and it has phenomenal reviews.

I ordered one last week and just arrived here today So far so good. Just completed the LSA registration online application. Hope this one works better than my craftsman cordless drill that died after 2 years of light use, and my other craftsman whose chuck broke after 6 months.

remember to complete the registration process by mailing in the upc code and a copy of the receipt. failure to do so will result in your tool not being registered for the LSA. i always mail in the required documentation, keeping copies of all mailed documents for future follow up. usually takes them 6-9 months to effect the change from 3 years to LSA.

like you, i started with c-man. changed to ridgid when they introduced the LSA and never looked back.

I'm still torn, but the Makita lxt211 is available at the HD store for $300, and they'll accept the HF 20% off coupon. That makes it $240 for the drill and driver. It gets much better reviews than the Rigid. Even without the LSA, I think I'll go that route.

Also, they have the 4 piece cordless kit (hammer drill, impact driver, recip saw, flashlight) that has the free circ saw included as well for only $460. 20% off that's $370. I don't know if it's worth $130 for the recip saw and circ saw. With the Ryobi, they were kinda crap. I assume Makita will be better, but still...
