Harbor Freight Gem - 2HP Dust Collector

The Harbor Freight coupon page in this months issue of WOOD magazine (Issue 202 Dec/Jan 2010/2011) has the 2HP Industrial 5 Micron Dust Collector for $139.99.

I think that qualifies for a good deal - I paid $149.99 in the spring of 2006 for the 30 micron bag version, and thought that was a good price!

Add a Thein separator and a Wynn filter and you're all set for anything.

Just watch out for that 15-amp switch on a 20-amp motor.

Not been a problem. The older models were an issue, the 97869 seems to have a stout enough switch... Easy enough to replace anyway...

My switch hasn't been a problem for the four or five years I've had it.

Of course, it's always in the "on" position and I use my remote control and relay box to turn the DC on and off.

As for 20A, the nameplate says 15Amps and when I measured mine it drew right at 14.7A with the inlet duct open and the bags off (highest CFM possible and highest amp untilization)... Pulled about 65-70A on startup but that would be normal for that kind of motor.

Still you should run it on a 20A circuit if at all possible.
