Ridgid R4511 is back at Home Depot for $399. Is it a bargain?

Just back from the local home depot in Lawrence, Kansas. First thing I see upon entering the store is 3 R4511's in box fresh off the boat from China.

I ended up buying a Ridgid TS2412 in excellent condition a couple of weeks ago off craigslist for $200. After countless trips to Home Depots in and around the Kansas City area I finally gave up on getting one at clearance price.

NOW, which one of you guys is going to be the first to pick up one of the new ones for $299. I'm anxiously awaiting your stories on picking one of these up for a bargain.

Seems like a good deal for $399. I don't hear many users talking about their experiences with the R4511. What do you guys that have one think of the saw?

Sorry about the poor quality pictures. All I had was my cell phone to take them with.

Are entertaining any idea of selling the 2412 and buying the 4511 (on sale, of course) !? Attn: OT material. BTW, ozfloyd seems to be dead. An extensive Gordon Lightfoot collection on youtube was closed down due to copyright infringements. Maybe the same?

      4511

I picked one of the last ones up at $299 plus 10% off coupon I had. Truly I think it would still be a deal at the original $600. I LOVE my saw.

For the type of saw that it is, I think $399.00 is a good deal. Not as good as $299.00, but still worth it...

        Best of luck!

Even at $400 it is a great price.

to the OP...i also have a ts2412. i got a 4511 a few months back for $240 plus tax. i sold it rather than keep it. when i looked at the components, they were different from the older ridgid units. the older ridgids seemed to be made of different, heavier, more substantial materials. i'd hang onto the 2412. i have yet to come across something it can't handle. the 4511 is a great tool, i'm just partial to the older ridgids.

What are the chances of using one of those 20% off harbor freight coupons on the R4511? What do the 20% off harbor freight coupons allow you to do at Home Depot? Does the item have to be the same EXACT item to get 20% off?

it varies from store to store. there is a store in the Bronx borough of new york city that i use that does honor them. when i purchased the 4511 i ultimately sold, it was with a HF 20% coupon in a store that initially refused the coupon. a call to corporate customer service pursuaded them to honor the coupon.

Perhaps you could post a copy of your receipt like most of us here do when we actually get these deals so we can then use a copy of it to get the same 20% discount that you got.

I just miked a 2412 today too see what the difference was in material thickness and could not find any except at certain point where the webbing might be thicker on the 4511, But the weight difference is substantial with the granite top, I woudn,t even consider keeping a 2412 over a new 4511 anyday of the week its a far superior tool, Just my observation

I bit the bullet and picked on up this weekend.
I think I can make around a 72" rail upgrade for somewhere near 50.00, and put a nice out feed table on it and at the same time make a router insert for my new rail setup, and be at "almost cabinet saw" for 500.00, which I cannot complain about.
I haven't decided whether to keep my BT3K for dados or get rid of it.

My observations of the designs of these two saws gives the R4511 several advantages....cabinet mounted trunnions, motor housed inside the enclosure, shorter drive belt, better dust collection, much more mass.

Here's a look under the hood of the R4511:

Here's a look at under the hood of the TS3650, which is pretty much what the TS2412 looks like:
Happiness is sort of like wetting your pants....everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.

tommyt654....would you please clarify the term "miked" mentioned in your previus post. BTW, what is the process for copying a post into another post so that the copied post references the identity of the copied post's member?
