perhaps you could post a few pics of the micrometer taking the referred to readings so we can all see exactly where, and by how much, the two units differ.I just miked a 2412 today too see what the difference was in material thickness and could not find any except at certain point where the webbing might be thicker on the 4511, But the weight difference is substantial with the granite top, I woudn,t even consider keeping a 2412 over a new 4511 anyday of the week its a far superior tool, Just my observation

Nope, Can,t do that as I was in another town at a friends who just so happens to have them both, He,s selling the 2412 and I had noted your comment on the substantiallity of it being a stronger unit so we took out his mic. and checked certain areas of the unit(base, sides, fence) and they were all about the same except for the base in certain areas which is quite apparent as the R4511 has more of a cabinet style rather than contractor style base. Probabaly a good .125 difference in thickness. I would venture to say its there to support the extra weight of the granite top and cast iron trunnions as well as a superior fence assembly as well. Hope this will help, perhaps one of your friends up north there in New York City has a micrometer and you can see the differences for yourself. I,d be more tha happy when I go to Dalton, Ga next time to take a mic. and camera if I remember to.

R4511
My BT3100 is on the injured disabled list, so I was intrirgued by the post that indicated that the R4511 was available and at an attractive price. I keep my saw in an unheated barn, so a nonrusting table is at the top of my priorities. Unfortunately, I checked in person at two BORGs in Southern NJ, who told me that their were none in the district. I called BORG customer service and was told that there were none available.
Since it is listed on the Ridgid web site, I called their customer service number and was told that it no longer available. If anyone knows of one in the Philadelphia area, please let me know.W. Robb Graham

R4511 is available at BORG Canada
Somewhat amazingly I discovered that the R4511 us available from Home Depot on line in Canda. I was able to put one in my cart on their web site, but they don't ship outside of Canada, and they want full price.

I checked at the local store and did not see any to replace the one I bought or that was sold before mine, there also were not any more on order that anyone could tell me about.
If anyone is interested, I can check the other stores in the area, but I don't know if anyone wants to travel to Maine to pick one up....Comment
