this unit is the successor to the ap400, right? so when i scored the ap400 (650 cfm, 1hp, dual voltage) at lowes for $47, that was a good deal?
BTW, lowes in connecticut had 50-720 for 199, but, with a copy of a receipt from another store, honor same price.
two floor samples and a boxed unit for $199 each in Carrollton, TX
I would try going back there and asking them how low they will go since you know they won't be carrying them any longer - I got a 50-760 at that store last year for 110.00 just by asking nicely
My local Lowes still had 3 left but they were $199. I found a store about 45 miles away with two in stock for 99.60.
I jumped in my truck to drive the 45 miles but before I could get out of the driveway I decided to call my local Lowe's and see if they would match the price. I spoke with the the manager on duty and she told me she would match it and have them waiting at customer service.
I purchased 2 for $99 each.
What a deal!
This is not a gloat but this forum is invaluable. Since discovering this forum 6 months ago I have purchased a Delta tenoning jig at Lowes for $39, a Jet supersaw for $895, saved 20% on a Harbor Freight lathe and now 2 dust collectors for $99 each.
wow, fall off chair wow.....i am dead broke, but if I see one tom. its so mine! I have to pass a Lowe's on tomorrow's route so.......if its meant to be its for me

I called the Euless store yesterday, they say none in stock, but Hurst has 2. I call Hurst, they say they none in stock, but Euless shows 2:-)
The D/FW Lowes never seem to mark their closeouts down as low or fast as the rest of the country. Fort Worth district is quoting $169 today. So to you guys who are taking them home for under a c-note, here's a heartfelt YOU SUCK!!!
just a cautionary note. it might not hurt to go to stores that have been contacted and look around. i bought 2 ridgid 3650 ts from one hd for $100 each. that was supposed to be all they had. yesterday, i found another one lurking in an overhead. when i checked with CS about the quantity on hand, they said "none". so, on saturday, i will take my receip from the 2 saw purchase and go buy the remaining one for the same price. they make geat gifts! the point is, if lowes inventory controls are anything like HDs controls, they may not know what they have on hand. FWIW.
there's a solution to every problem.......you just have to be willing to find it.
I picked the last one up in Sacramento last night for $67.25. Reno and Fernley, NV had 3 each but wasn't sure about the price. I had the Rancho Cordova store match the Citrus Heights store even though Rancho wanted $199.20. Thanks for the post!
This little unit followed me home today from the Fullerton/Anaheim, CA, store - they had four, flying fast at $99, this was the last one - wouldn't budge - but still at deal!
The trashcan (behind to the right) will become a chip separator with the Thien lid/baffle in short order. Have been thinking about using 4in fittings for this (input and output side) - will this still be efficient if i need to use an adapter to pull from tools with 2.5in ports?
Yeah, but your CFM will be limited by the 2.5" port. Doesn't matter that you are pulling with a 1HP DC, or a 5HP monster cyclone, the limit is the port...
You can always tee off 1 4" to 2 2.5" ports, and use the second one on a shop made secondary port maybe?
That's funny, I had one of those follow me home today too! Is it really necessary to create a separate separator? i thought this unit basically had that built in with heavy stuff falling to the bottom and the fines accumulating on the inside wall of the canvas bag. Anyone know how loud this machine is? I couldnt find any note of it in the litearature. Woo hoo great score, thanks to OP for heads up. And there is 1 more nib at the Largo, FL location as well as one floor model.
The idea behind a pre-separator like a Thien is to keep as much of not only the chunks, but the fines out of the filter bag as well to keep it from getting gummed up...
Congrats to all of you that got this on the cheap.
