Is it just my imagination, or is that SMT on backwards? Please like and subscribe to my YouTube channel. Please check out and subscribe to my Workshop Blog. -
The SMT is on backwards and is often done that way.
If you are not making mter cuts, you can turn it around and use it that way while ripping, it won't bash your hip in a crowded shop. You often see it that way in store displays for the same reason.
I think you aksed about how to lock a SMT the other day. I told you there is a slot that accepts the locking tab and locks the SMT even with the main table top in normal position. There is a second slot about 3/4" away from that locking slot. I think the second slot allows locking the SMT when reversed so that the table lines up neatly, in that position. Try it.
On that particular BT3000 on CL, the elevation/bevel handle seems to be broken off - the seller says in the text it needs a new one. Its not a trivial thing to replace, it takes an odd sized bushing and handle (see my FAQ.)Last edited by LCHIEN; 01-21-2009, 11:12 PM.

I've seen the 21829 with the SMT on backwards @ Sears... I just chalked it up to the staff that sets these things up being illiterate...
On my BT, the tab you are talking about is frozen in place due to water exposure... I think a touch of penetrating oil and some patience will come in handy with this, and any other rusted fasteners I can find...Please like and subscribe to my YouTube channel.
