HF Pin Nailer in store coupon

Was in the Fremont CA store on Saturday and planned to use my 20% off everything to pick up their pin nailer. Before checking out I picked up a small book of coupons that were located by the front door and low and behold there was one for the nailer for $7.00 off (on a price of $26.99) so 25% off. Only a little better that 20% but recall it was good for a week or so.

I had shopped the web only site before going in to the B&M location and got a good price match on the 5/8" and 3/4" nails. However, there was a diamond hone that was about 30% more in store that on the web. Unfortunately I didn't have a print out. Next time I'm going to get prints of the web only prices for ALL items on my shopping list before hand.

Seems funny they would have these in store but not posted on the retail web site or included in their emails.

Along the same lines I dropped into the Hemet, Ca store last week and discovered a Dust Collector Remote for $30. After getting home I checked it out on the website and came up with "Not Listed". Guess some stores have some items that others don't and aren't on the web. Guess it pays to look around when in the store. Remote works well by the way. Can turn the DC on/off from anywhere in the shop or even from about 50ft away.

Rich let us know how that HF pinner seats the pins. Would be curious if its consistent and if they sink below the surface.
      Thanks and nice grab.

I just picked one up as well. I'm very pleased with it. It sets the pin just below the surface, and doesn't leave much of a hole. As a test I pinned two scraps of 1/2" plywood together using four 3/4" pins. The two pieces were remarkably well held together.

I was surprised that the gun doesn't have a safety tip trigger lock- you can easily fire a pin across the room or otherwise. It does have a swivel lock on the trigger itself, but once that is unlocked you can fire at will.

Just for giggles I fired the gun about an inch above the surface of some plywood- the 3/4" pins consistently sunk about half-way in.

One complaint with the pins that harbor freight sells... they are glued into a strip with an orange film. That orange film tends to get deposited on the surface you are nailing. I'll be shopping for some better name-brand pins. Note that unlike the brad nailer, the pinner doesn't come with any nails.

when I got my HF pin nailer in the mail a few years back, I ordered some 1/2" and some 1" pins, like 5000 of each. They came in a plastic box which was tossed in in the big shipping box with no packing material to hold it down. When I got the package from HF on my porch there was trail of 1 and 2 nails stuck together leading down the driveway. Whe I opened the package the 1/2" nail box had come open and there were strips of pins everywhere inside and not one strip was any longer than about 4 or 5 pins, apparently having been broken into small strips by the movement of the other items in the package. The littlest ones had gotten under the flaps of the package and were leaking out as I noted on the driveway.

No big problem, An e-mail to HF customer service got a new box on the way for free.

Remember that the HF online site (where you can order stuff and see prices) is actually a different company than their retail stores... (or so they say ) The website for the retail outlets (harborfreightusa.com) is basically only good for looking up item numbers. Fortunately, the stores will match any online pricing, but having two different companies is the major reason that prices are not always the same. One hand does not always know what the other is doing. You just gotta get used to looking online before you visit a B&M, and bringing a printout along to get the cheaper prices, if there are any.

Prices bounce all over, and frequently are very different on the website, in the catalog, and in the stores, not to mention the coupons. You can never tell which will be lowest. Perhaps the only thing HF sells that appears to be their own design is their cycle tree.

It was $50 on the website, but when I found it at $30 in the catalog I went in to look at it. The store price was $17. It works.

That clinches it for me....too much of a safety risk with small children in the house. Also, really lousy packing is another pet peeve. I had ordered in the past from HF and was not satisfied with their products or service. I will just put them on the never order list! Thanks for info everyone.

I picked on up a few weeks back with a 15% off coupon, not quite 25% but not sure if I can be bothered to go back to HF for a few bucks. Its my first HF nailer (all others are PC & bostich) but as the cheapest alternative for pin nailers is the PC at ~$110 then $22 seems like a good deal.

I have used it a couple of times and it seems to work well.

I was curious about the pin length capacity on these. The site specs say 1" my friend bought one and said he thought it would shoot longer. If anyone could let me know I would appreciate it. 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" would be a lot more useful to me.
                    Thanks

Not sure about the pin nailer, but a friend of mine has the HF Air Compressor (the 21 gallon upright job) and a framing nailer, and he abused the snot out of that thing, including repeatedly leaving it out in rain and mud while building his new detached garage. They both work like new.

I know getting some of their stuff online is pretty risky, their packaging leaves a LOT to be desired to say the least.

The stated pin limit is 1". don't know if you could rig it to do longer. The Grex and maybe one or two others will do up to 1 1/3' I think, but a lot more money.

Of course none of those prices appear to have any relation to what appears on the price register when you go to check out...

HF is really an interesting store.

In regards to the pin nailer, the 5000 nails that come with it ought to last you an awful long time!

                            Yours came with nails?

Mine didn't even have the pins that were supposed to come with it (as was stated on the box.)

I may go ahead to get one when its on sale just to try out.If It holds up as good as my 18ga it will be a steal.Your right about HF being strange there is no telling what they will have in stock or the prices when you go in.
