They are pretty nice: they toggle between decimal inches (to .0001), fractional inches (to 1/128"), and mm. They have a button to allow you to temporarily zero the scale for a relative measurement without losing your zero. They are plastic, which is an advantage for the use I had in mind of modifying it to become a bit height gauge.

One thing to watch out for is that it seems the off button just turns off the display, not the measurement, so I expect it will burn batteries pretty quickly. In contrast to my other one, it is not easy to remove and replace the battery.

Score! Hopefully it comes this time
Polycarbonate would be really useful for me as my last steel one ended up rusting out really badly in the action of the caliper of all places!

Just ordered some myself. I have been looking for a good deal on a good set of calipers.

my only caveat on these would be that the body and jaws are polycarbonate.
This may be OK if you only measure wood and plastic (or other softish materials) with it. Jaws on most calipers are made of relatively (for metals) hard stainless steel. This is so you can push it up against dirty and burry and rough surfaces (like the thread area of bolts and screws) and not wear any on the jaws. If you wore any on the jaws and they were not flat between them you would have an error depending upon the depth of the wear and where on the jaws you measured as opposed to anywhere along the jaws.

My first calipers were $55 and were poly carbonate an I got them over 12 years ago. I still have and use them but they are showing wear in the jaws area and I only use them for rough measurements and not critical measurements. They are also a lot looser than all the metal ones I have and just don't have that precision feel , the head tends to slide on it own weight altho they do still seem to measure accurately.

HFT has a SS one for about$20 which I like but I still use the dial one more for fractions. I would not want plastic.

I sort-a did not pay attention that this was plastic (ok, I'm stupid). Mine arrived today, it's not too bad (LOOKS like it is metal ) , and my HF one needs a new battery, so at least I have something...oh well.

                              Fast shipping from Rockler

I ordered one of these around midnight on Tuesday, already here Friday morning and free shipping to boot. Yup, it's plastic, but looks seems fairly solid and comes in a tupperware style case that'll keep it plenty safe in my measuring tool drawer. Even includes a spare battery.
