    1) he's told its been cancelled in front of his victim at Sears on Dec 1,

If anyone in the Buffalo NY area missed out on one of these you can buy mine. I bought it even though I already had a 15" drill press that I am happy with. I figured it was such a deal that I could not pass it up and figured on selling the older one once I put the new one together. I never bothered and still have not opened the box. I figured I would check on this list to see if anyone in the area wants it for what it cost me -- $180+tax+ the $25 I gave a friend to pick it up in his truck Call it $225 total. If I do not sell it off of this list then to Craigslist it goes. But I figured I would give you guy's first shot. I do not want to get involved in any shipping, but if you are in the area and can pick it up shoot me a pm.

I don't live anywhere near you and I don't need a drill press, but I do appreciate the spirit of the offer.

          Final won one with Sears

Ok.....After Sears had canceled my first order from 10/12/07 and then mailed me a check for the sale price charged on my credit card. I had to only speak with the manager once and because I had ordered the DP at the store and stated I had seen the sale sign on the DP. The manager is now honoring the sale after initially canceling it. My first delivery date was 11/27/07 then canceled and Sears had to reorder the DP for a delivery date on 12/25/07. I asked if they were open for Christmas because of the delivery date but Sears is not. I’m just happy to final get a bargain. Just don’t give in so easy.

Don't count your chickens until it's in your truck and you're off Sears property...

Well I just got the call today that my order has ben cancelled. Stated they have tried to contact me three times earlier so they could refund me. Not sure why they had to call me seeing that I ordered it online and Sears had all my information, not to mention I never recieved any phone calls or emails. On top of that it was the local store that refunded me and not the online store.

"For the first three quarters, profits were $394 million, or $2.66 a share, down from $670 million, or $4.29 a share, a year earlier. Revenue declined 3% to $35.5 billion."

Thought one: profits down $280 million, who cares about giving away a few drill presses.

Thought two: they must have sold 802,000 drill presses at a loss of $345 (529-180) each to have lost $280 million in profits.... that's a lot of drill presses.

if Buffalo wasn't so far, and gas wasn't over 3 buckaroos per gallon, i'd buy it in a heartbeat.

                      thanks for the kind offer.

                        Happy Ending

I called into Sears today to check in my DP was in yet as it was scheduled for today. They checked called back and told me the order had been cancelled but there was one on the floor they'd give me for $50 off. I took off for the store immediately. When I got there the lady in pick-up had the unit but panicked when she saw the price and I ended up at a manager who checked and seemed to know about the internet snafu. I was about to be SOL but told her that I'd purchased it there... she was asking who sold it to me, etc. Looked pretty grim, but then I unleashed my secret weapon (for which I had been madly searching on my cell phone): a picture of the sign clearly showing the whole shebang. She conceded and gave it to me... didn't get $50 off... apparently that was figured as a 10% discount from $500 sale price... but she did give it to me for 10% off. So, $159 plus tax. Not too bad. But it is a floor-model.

On the way out to the car, luckily, someone noticed the chuck was missing. I was too anxious to get the darn thing in my car to notice! They knocked one off a 15" DP... I presume its the same one but let me know if not. I'll have to have a good look at this thing once I get it out of the car... maybe more pieces are missing. Who knows... but at $159 can't complain too loudly even if they are.

                        Gloat: yay for me!
                        Never met a bargain I didn't like.

Yes indeed! I can only imagine the utter chaos that befell Sears over this thing... Look at all the views and posts for this thread alone, and multiply that by all the other forums out there. A PR nightmare... I wonder how many persons at Sears corporate or at the ad agency were executed for this disaster... To their credit, Sears made good on a lot more of these than others might have.

Just when you think all is lost, I got it

Well, I finally was able to pickup the DP after waiting 3 months for my order to be delivered at Sears. After one simple phone call with the local store manager and contacting our local consumer affairs department about the problem, I somehow was able get it for free.

When the first order was canceled, Sears had mailed back a check which I deposited into the bank. After reordering it a second time for the sale price, Sears somehow also credited my credit card which was two months ago. I figure their communications between the local stores and HQ in Chicago must be lacking with the multiply Sears employee contacts that were involved.
