Item #1210 45 PC. THREADED INSERT RIVETER KIT (last seen for $13.99)

    Additions

Item #35778 - Saber Saw. Its a Bosch clone, and while it gets some demerits because it requires the accompanying tool (screwdriver) to change blades (and there's no storage for the screwdriver on the tool itself), it has been a real good workhorse for me. I forget whether it comes with blades or not, but get good Bosch blades and it works like a gem. Clearly not a Bosch, but a decent enough clone.

Item #5889 - Twist drills. I think their twist drills are a great deal when they're on sale for $10 for a full set of fractional sizes, #5889

Item #92956 - 3/8" Close Quarter Drill. I'm using it occasionally as a home owner and feel that it meets my needs (not sure if it would be suitable for a professional for every day use).

Item #47840 - Bandsaw, Portable Variable Speed. Again, I'm using it on an occasional basis as a home owner and really feel that this is a worthwhile purchase. (I assume that it's of a lower quality than the Milwaukee brand.)

Item #04182 - 2" Industrial Grade Chip Brushes. Very good for a disposable, consumable item. ITEM 92623 - 7" Variable speed sander/polisher. Bought it on sale for less than the price of a rental for a specific job but have used it several times since then

Item # 38142 - 13" Bench Top Drill Press - Have been very impressed with this unit...very strong 3/4hp motor, very low vibration, very low runout, good quill travel, and heavy. This DP replaced an 8" Grizzly, and I chose it over the Ryobi, Delta, Craftsman, Hitachi, and other Grizzly DP's. I honestly don't know what spending 2-3x more would get you (maybe a laser guide...). $144 on sale plus 10% coupon.

Item #37056-1VGA 2 PC. 1/2 HEAVY DUTY PIPE CLAMP SET. Lotta bang for your buck on these clamps. Occasionally the solid pin holding the screw shaft in will fall out. I just install a normal roll pin and continue using.

ITEM 97526-0VGA - Current item number for 23 ga Pin Nailer (item number above does not work)

ITEM 96395 - DRILL PRESS EXTENSION TABLE WITH FENCE. * 23-7/8" W x 11-5/8" L table dimensions * Aluminum T-track for jigs and fixtures * Adjustable fence for hold-down and stopping applications. Laminated MDF, same basic DP table sold by Grizzly, MLCS, and Rockler (sold as "mini" DP table), amongst others.

also, here is a good page that lists a bunch more gems and not so good stuff.

I agree - actually, those calipers might stand good review irrespective of the cost; which is saying something.

Always wondered how that other plastic one was; guess you have answered that!

I agree, I'll stack mine http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=47257 up against the $100+ Mitutoyo at the office. for accuracy, fit and finish even.

I've not owend the plastic-bodied HF digital calipers http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=99639 but i have owned plastic digital calipers many years before and they don't have hardened jaws, the jaws get mangled after a bit and I don't think they are flat within ..001 any more, also they slide too easily. Still accurate tho even today. But For six bucks more get the stainless ones (now in fractional readout, too) http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=97675 for goodness sakes.

I have several of the plastic ones. Have to label them so you use the same one each time for the same job as they are off a little bit from each other. Not enough to worry about working with wood unless you mix them up. I think I paid .99 each and keep one in the glove box, when I stop at the BORG for plywood it's a real help figuring out just how thick it really is.

And.... when it falls off of the bench it's still just as accurate as it was.

The Harbor Freight Social Group is just another section within this site.

To access it, you need to scroll up to the top of this page and click on the small down arrow next to 'Quick Links' in the top-menu.
Under Networking you should see 'Social Groups'.
If you click on it, it'd take you to the page where you can select the HF social group and opt to 'join the group' (link at bottom of that page).

Once you are a member of any such group, you can post messages there that are only visible within that social group.

Anyone have any input on the 8" Rabbeting Jointer ITEM 32966-4VGA. I have been desperate for a jointer and just can't believe how expensive the dang things are. There is no way I can spend the $ for one from the big boys right now so rather than wait, if this is at least decent I thought I might try it. Anyone?

7 Function Digital Multimeter 90899-0VGA On sale for $2.49. Bought one for work. It's been dropped, banged around and still works. And if it ever quits, so what?

I have not had personal experience with that or even known guys with them, but I do see reviews of them online and they seem to compare well with the 6" jointer.

For the price, they are hard to beat unless you go used.
One thing you need to be aware of though, the 8" jointer is rarely, if ever an in store / in stock item. You almost HAVE to order it on line... Meaning you are S.O.L. for sales and the % off coupons unless you can con your HF store manager into carrying a couple of these. But at $399.00 they are not a badly priced jointer...

HF now has a scheme to allow you to order some large items in the store. I haven't used it, but it might be worth a query.

Alternatively, you can drive out to HF HQ in Camarillo. They have a will-call window at the wherehouse where I've been able to pick up large items in the past.

Ship to store would be a GREAT deal. There have been a LOT of items I have missed because my local HF store manager doesn't order many of the larger woodworking tools in...

                              organizing sockets

Those socket clip strips are terrific. I glue and screw them to the free big paint sticks from Home Depot (the five gallon stirring sticks, not the 1 gallon ones) to serve as holders for my various types of sockets. You can create a mix of 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 clips on one socket strip if you need to.

Paint sticks for the metric sockets in my tool cabinet get painted red. Standard US SAE socket strips go on primer-gray paint sticks.

The big paint sticks are strong and long enough to easily hold everything except the really heavy deep 1/2 or 3/4 inch drive impact sockets.

And it is easy to grab a strip of sockets and carry it over to where-ever the lawn tractor broke down or to take to the junk yard for more car parts.

Got it on sale with coupon for around $340. I used it to cut 26 post holes for a fence through pavement. Would have cost more for me to rent one for the time I needed it. If it dies tommorow it has already paid for itself.
