    Unemployed this week.

After 5 years, my current contract ended last Friday. My new contract with a new client starts on the 16th so I have an entire week of shop time.

    DAY 1 of unemployment:
Mowed and bagged the lawn and took everything to the compost site.
Started painting my miter station dust cover, got two coats of white on the inside and I'll paint the outside tomorrow.
Made and painted the mount for my grinder, mower blade sharpening jig and blade balancer. Shown below:

    Day 2 of unemployment plans
Mount the grinding station to a wheeled metal work stand in the garage.
Paint the outside of the miter station dust cover.
Start on a small deck shed to store cushions and pillows when not in use. The old cheap plastic deck box died in the storms we had last week.

    DAY 2 of Unemployment
The dec k box project was vetoed by LOML so I guess I'll keep carrying cushions around the house to the garage every time it rains. Anyway, the grinder station is complete and passed its maiden blade sharpening test with flying colors.

I got the dust hood for the miter station painted and wired for lighting. The lights for it show up tomorrow.

I decided to rebuild the miter station mount so I can use the quick release locks on the Kapex and move it directly to the rolling stand rather than unbolting everything. I also ran power to above the bench so I don't need to remove the hose from the under cabinet vac to get the power cord out. It needs a light sanding and one more coat of point and I'll install it tomorrow.

On the docket for today is to strip and repaint the old slightly rusty metal shelves in the shop. I also have a completely unrelated honey do list

      DAY 3 of unemployment
I got the miter station reassembled last night, and if it's not one thing it's another. The fences now interfere with the dust collection shroud so I had to cut 150mm off of those, and then since I remade the miter saw mount, I had remove, lower, and reinstall the cabinet. Now I have to make new doors for the center cabinet. Everything else seemed to work just as planned.

I also added a magnet to the side of shroud to keep the two metric hex keys that are essential to changing the blade on the Kapex.

FInally, I got three coats of paint on the inside of the metal shelves. Since I had to empty the shelves to paint them, there is crap piled on every surface in the shop that isn't being used to paint something. The entire place is a disaster but putting it all back together is on the docket for day 5.

Thursday and Friday I got the paint stripped off the outside of the shelves and made a rolling base for the shelves. Had grandkids for the weekend so no shop time from Friday about noon until Sunday about noon. Just as I got back to the shop on Sunday, a neighbor needed a wheelbarrow. A few minutes later another neighbor cut through a sprinkler line and needed help fixing it. I got about two hours in the shop and then had other stuff to do to get ready to go back to the working world tomorrow morning.

Just starting to put stuff back on the shelves.

I also got the lights installed in the miter station shroud today and the shop is mostly picked up.

I didn't get my strap nailer rebuilt or complete the drawers for my daughter's kitchen, so those will just have to wait
