I’ve chimed up in numerous times in discussions about polyurethane wheeled casters, always pointing out their tendency to crack and the tire fall off the wheel. Today i
Dug into my caster storage closet for 8 identical casters and found these “remains” from 2 polyurethane coaster tires. I’ve seen them crack and fall off the wheel .but never dreamed they would self destruct into such small pieces. This is in a dark closet in my climate controlled shop with temps averaging in the 70fs. One good thing I’ve learned is after a PU caster self destructs the plastic wheel still works satisfactory for shop use if you peel the tire off all of the casters.
