  • Flag case... help needed

    My uncle recently passed.

He was honored with a military burial and flag.

I want to make a frame for the flag.

I hsve a bunch of cherry that can do the job.

Anyone here have plans or dimensions?

I made one for my Dad's burial flag. I went online to find plans for a flag case. I found one for free. I made if from some red oak I had on hand with a plexiglass front. The 1/4" ply back is held in place with a 3/4" square frame held on with some #4 flat head wood screws. This left room for a small french cleat hanger. Since my Dad was in the navy during WWII, I looked up a picture of the ship he served on and included it in the case.

I'm sure if you google it you will find dozens of plans on-line; they are very popular.

The first question is going to be what sized flag. Veterans burial flags are usually 5 x 9'.

Wood magazine has one here: https://www.woodmagazine.com/project...free/flag-case

I forgot to mention (tip of the hard hat to Loring) that I sized the case to fit the folded up flag as it was presented at the the grave site. I was lucky as it had been in a bag from after the ceremony until I did the case.

The Wood magazine plans look pretty nice. I like they avoid the 22.5 degree miters
I downloaded them and attach them here as an attachment you can copy. I think you can click the link here:

Don’t know what’s going on with this site’s database, but this is the second time a post of mine has doubled. I just see my post reply in working status for many minutes. Both from FireFox current versions on both PC W10 and iOS v.13.7
