If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

Looks like the A10 aircraft Gatling gun. That is the best perspective on the size of the gun that I have ever seen. I knew that it was big but... WOW!

I wonder why there is skirting on the trailer? Is it going to be pulled in a parade? I though GE GAU-8A Avenger the first time I saw it.

Probably prepared for a dog and pony show for the AF brass.

Pretty impressive, Until I saw this I had no idea that the 30 mm gatling gun was so large.
I do know that they more or less designed the A-10 airplane around it.
up to 3900 rounds per minute.7 barrels. Magazine (the big drum item) holds about 1150 rounds. Doesn't take long to empty that sucker out.I guess you fire in small bursts.

This qualifies as woodworking? You can mow down 10 trees in about 10 seconds/

If it takes 10 seconds you mow down 10 trees, then you can cut down 17 to 18 trees, and then you have to return to ground to reload.

The A10 is a small plane compared to a 747, but to 2 seater fighters it is large, especially considering its armament. If you were going to use it for land clearing the AC130 (spooky ) with its side firing Gatling would be a better choice because it carries lots more ammo, or another AC130 with side firing 150s or 40mm bofors!

That isn't side skirting. Those are brass pouches to catch it for the reloaders! (gun folks who reload themselves, like saving money, in this case cheaper reloads means more fuel money for the actual flight)
You know how hard it is for us civilians to get and take to the range one of these!
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

Do you reload with DU or just cut corners and use lead?

Here's the business end of the gun. Note how the landing gear is shifted to one side to make room for the gun.
