How to make a lot of money

While cruising at the local Hobby Lobby crafts store, I saw the following item for sale:

    It's a piece of 2 x 4 cut to 3.5" long and sold as a Wooden Block for $2.99

If I had a 8 foot 2x4, allowing for waste I could make 24 of these and sell them for $72
    I think a 2x4 costs about $3.50
I think there's a pretty large profit margin to be made...

They also had 4x4x4 and 1x4x4 blocks for sale.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

Another good option might be the firewood sold at the grocery store. Three pieces of firewood you got from a tree you chopped down for free, a little shrink wrap, and a $12 selling price seems to be a pretty good profit.

The part that surprises me is that they can't seem to keep it in stock

I remember a story my Dad told years ago about a gentleman who, in retirement, wanted to try and make some money. He placed an ad (word only) in the back of a woodworking magazine for wooden letters cut out on a bandsaw for around $1.00 He was hoping to make a little money. His first month he got over 10,000 orders and had to hire 2 full time cutters and tools.

      There is always a way.

A few years ago West Elm had some 'Side Tables' in their catalog for something like $600. Nothing more than cut pieces of tree trunk about 15" in diameter.

Reminds me of this guy's artisan firewood.

Boy, this artisan firewood guy is full of himself. In a former life he would be Barney madolf.
