Bill,
Thanks for the coupon thread. I have printed the coupon will be using it tomorrow. I have been wanting their 6" cross slide vise for quite some
time but never found the 'sale price' to be that attractive. The 25 % coupon should do the trick, price wise. If my calculation is correct, I should be
able to pick one up for $67.50 with the coupon. Their sale price is 74.99.
Tom -
$74.99 sale price minus 25% = 56.25?
or $89.95 reg price minus 25% = 67.50...Last edited by LCHIEN; 12-11-2015, 07:32 AM.Loring in Katy, TX USA

Tom,
They are sneaky on their use of the word "sale" and how the 20% or 25% coupon applies.
Coupon Sales/"Special" Sales: There are "coupon" sales in which you need the item's coupon to get that price. 20% & 25% coupons will not apply to those.
(Normal) Sale: at any given time, many items are on "sale". For these type of sales, the 20% and 25% coupons apply to the sale price. This is what your item should fall under. As Loring wrote: "$74.99 sale price minus 25% = 56.25?"
Then there is the manager's interpretation of sale. - I had to write that - because - when the 2nd store in the Memphis area opened, the store manager would not allow it 20% coupons on ANYTHING on sale. All 20% and 25% coupons had to apply to the full retail price. I argued with him and even called the headquarters later. I also told him I would be taking my business to the first HF store in Memphis, which was 15 miles farther away from me. When I did drop in several months later, the hard line manager was gone. I go into Stores in Memphis, Jonesboro AR, Dallas, Springfield MO and Jackson MS on a regular basis (each one about twice a year) and the 20% coupon does apply to the normal "sale" price, but not a "special" sale or "coupon" sale.Last edited by leehljp; 12-11-2015, 08:21 AM.Hank Lee

nearly everything at HF is on sale... not sure about this coupon but I regularly use the 20% ones to buy stuff that is "on sale" and still get the extra 20%. I guess I will have to go to HF and find out.Jon

All,
I went to HF today and bought the 6" slide vise. They discounted the item off of the sale price of 74.99.
74.99
- 18.75 25% discount
--------
54.24 net price after discount plus sales tax.
Thanks to all for your comments and help

tstombaugh, what do y'all have in mind using the cross slide vice for? I used mine on the drill press as a precision vice but also was able to use it of a wood milling machine using router bits. It was good for cutting mortises in table legs and slotting.

I plan to use the vise the same way you are using it. The vise will be mounted on the drill press setup of a Shopsmith. I also plan to build a wood support for the table because of the weight of the vise. The Shopsmith I have was my first woodworking tool that I purchased over 30 years ago. Never liked the table
saw configuration and I still don't. Since then I have purchased a BT3100 TS and some other dedicated wood machinery.
