What eats sanding belts for lunch?

Hmmm, something's been hiding in my garage and is apparently hungry enough to eat 120 grit sanding belts.

What the heck kind of bada$$ animal eats sanding belts???

That's a four-inch Norton belt. Maybe they like the glue that binds the aluminum oxides to the belt? or the paper? Maybe it sharpens their teeth?

OMG: maybe he'll develop a taste for tungsten carbide?

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

I vaguely recall that rat teeth keep growing, so to keep them at a workable length, they need to keep grinding them down... just saying

        My first thoughts are:
Don't doze off in the chair in your shop. You might loose something you need.

What kind of ppe would you need for protection against a rat?

Maybe you could train him to carve or cut dovetails for you!

          Spiderpig? ;-)

Roaches like to eat glue - maybe roaches nibbled away at it over time.

Mice or voles is another possibility, and very difficult to keep out of the shop.

I suspect if you put out a few glue traps you will figure it out

I think you should set out a variety of grits, such that your critters can get the best possible sharpening of their teeth. And definitely premium belts. We are talking about an animal's health.

It probably took your Rockler sillicone glue brush, too.

                    Found that! Uneaten.
I was looking for a old B&D Piranaha saw blade - can't find that. Probably eaten..

Caimans eat piranha. Maybe you have a caiman in your garage. Don't stand in the same spot too long.
