Does anyone that has Amazon Prime use the e-book feature and do they know the limitations? I read somewhere that it was one a month from the kindle owners' library and I wasn't sure if this was the trial limitation or if it was a general limitation.
Amazon Prime?

That is a general, ongoing limit. I have Amazon Prime first and foremost for the free 2 day shipping. Free Prime Videos are a nice bonus and the Kindle "loan" books are an occasionally used, but mostly forgotten feature.
Too bad Audible books aren't included, I'd use that feature every month.

it says there that you must own a kindle and have a prime membership... one book at a time from a limited library.
I have an android that can do kindle books, I wonder if that will work or if it actually has to be a kindle device.
yeah it says it must be a registered kindle device.Last edited by LCHIEN; 08-18-2013, 10:07 PM.Loring in Katy, TX USA

Fairly positive it has to be a Kindle.

I don't think it has to be a kindle, since there is now an Amazon created app for the pc - a kindle reader for pc.
I enjoy reading and can devour a book in a few days if it interests me. 1 a month, meh...
Thanks for your input all.I think in straight lines, but dream in curvesComment

As long as I can remember, its required a registered Kindle device for loaned books and will not work on any other device.
For free, or cheap e-books, I heartily recommend BookBub at http://home.bookbub.com/home/
Works with many devices and has great recommendations in their the daily newsletter, which is also free. Just select your device and reading preferences.Dan

Has to be a Kindle
They use it to help sell their hardware. My phone and laptop will all read Kindle books, but do not qualify for the Lending Library feature.Doug Kerfoot

I got Amazon Prime as a student (I went back to school for a class) at half the usual rate. I couldn't keep the student discount since I wasn't enrolled in classes this year, but still renewed since I was hooked on the free 2-day shipping. I wonder how much of that will change once tax is added, as I can always get something the same day locally if the price isn't much different...
The video service has a pretty good library, but the interface is terrible. But there are some things on Amazon Prime that Netflix doesn't have.Comment

But you can't borrow them for free unless you have an actual registered kindle device AND are a Prime member.
Not sure if once you meet the requirements and borrow it whether you can then read it on another device running a kindle app.Loring in Katy, TX USA

I am fond of Amazon, but have never had good interactions with their live support team... I thank all for their posts, its pretty clear that this service will not fit my needs. Great advertising though, it certainly seems more than it is for me.I think in straight lines, but dream in curvesComment
