photoelectric eye (switch). Plug into outlet, with the eye pointing up, plug a light into the outlet (presumably) on the other side opposite the plug.
When the sun goes down it turns on the outlet.
your pictures show the same side twice - not much help there.Last edited by LCHIEN; 03-23-2013, 11:41 PM.

This looks closely like one of those small electrical glade room atomizers.
IF you posted a picture on facebook, and if you have many many friends, (or your wife does) I bet you would find the answer quick - if it is an atomizer.Last edited by leehljp; 03-24-2013, 08:34 AM.Hank Lee

Thanks for your technical expertise. It's always appreciated. There was a suggestion from another forum that it's an old style brimidon capacitor, used mainly in the production of zemex style zepherite for galymitias.
Whatever it is, it could be as simple as a plug in air freshener.

What is it? Found in the yard
I would like to say, that is a fact, it You looked closer near the road, You would find (things) that might not be able to post here
It could be garbage from a Russian space probe. We may never know for sure.

Is that plastic or ceramic material?
It looks to me like an old appliance adapter for a wall plug. I seem to recall in my youth, certain appliance cords like from an old shortwave radio I had acquired... it's prongs were round, pins.... I had to cut them off and buy an updated blade plug in order to plug it into the wall outlet.

The exterior seems to be mostly plastic. The innards could be ceramic. It's a bit heavy for all plastic. Is that plastic or ceramic material?
