The Waffle House Museum may be nice but you don't want to miss the Spam Museum in Austin MN. The only (to my knowledge ) museum you can smell from several blocks away. If the wind is right you can smell it 1/2 a mile away.
Many decades ago the Army used mules to carry supplies and other goods.
Now, most of the mules were well behaved but often there was one or two that would kick up a fuss and cause problems.
In order to tell one mule from another the mule skinners would shave the hair off the tail of the troublesome mule.
These recalcitrant mules were known as "Shave Tails" and had a bad reputation.
Now days the Army doesn't use many mules, but the name has stuck...... to second Lieutenants!
Edwards Air Force base used to be Muroc Army Air Field. Muroc was a town started by the Corum family. There was already a town called Corum so they reversed their name to Muroc.
Murphy's Law is credited to Edward A. Murphy, and was coined during his work with Dr. John Stapp at Edwards Air Force Base.
The B-1b bomber is now often referred to as the "Bone". The nickname came from a reported who mistakenly wrote "B one" is a news article and the name stuck.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. - Thomas Edison
There's been several theories about the origin of "April Fools Day". One is that it started in France after the adoption of a reformed calender by Charles IX in 1564. Up till that time, New Year celebration began March 21 and ended April 1. When New Year's was changed, some people still celebrated on April 1. These people became known as "April Fools."

edit: I thought "April Fools" was those of us born in April! (Me one, 6 April)

The lesson here is that hand planes are pretty much useless without an iron.

Starch is used as a binder in the production of paper. It is the use of a starch coating that controls ink penetration when printing. Cheaper papers do not use as much starch, and this is why your elbows get black when you are leaning over your morning paper.
