    Introducing...

Rylan Thomas Griggs announced his entry into this world at 12:34 PM, CDT, on the 6th day of July in the year of our Lord 2012. Rylan stretched the tape to 20 inches and tipped the scales to his fighting weight of 8 pound 11.4 ounces.

Momma is doing fine, Daddy is conscious and almost coherent.

There were some minor complications. Rylon has a slight heart mumor, not uncommon in newborns, and there is a difference in his blood pressure between his upper and lower extemities. He was taken to St David's Childrens Hospital for an ecocardiogram and obsrvation. The medical staff assures us that this is precautionary and there is no major concern.

I will be going up there after work tomorrow to see him for the first time.

Those so inclined, please keep Rylan and the skill of the doctors in your prayers.

        congratulations.
A lot of good times ahead for you.
Our grandson was born just over a year ago and spend the first 2 months in the preemie ward (NICU) before going home. He's doing well now. modern medical care is amazing - your gs is probably in good hands.

We see him at least weekly and this last week our grandson mastered two things i have not seen him do before... high five you every time you hold up your hand and he can also do the hello wave with the curling fingers. Oh, so much fun. Then, when he needs a diaper change you just hand them back to mommy or daddy.

My son called last night just before I went to bed. St David's had called him and the problems were due to a heart valve that hadn't fully closed yet, common in C section births. Rylan should be transferred back to San Marcos sometime today.

This is the second grandson that Michael and Jessica have given us. Aidan is not almost 2.

There are also 3 grandkids from the girl's previous marraiges, what my wife calls 'bonus babies'. Hunter (Jessica's) is 5. The eldest son's wife has 2. Samantha is 14 (going on 21!) and Jarod is 12. Jarod has extreme special needs due to childhood injuries and PJ was unable to care for him. He was adopted by his foster care family but PJ and Samatha visit him on a regular basis. My son is the only man that has ever been allowed to go to their home with PJ.

Congrats to you and the family Pappy. Take it from the father of two preemies( one at six weeks and one at eight weeks), it's amazing what the hospitals can do and just how well the kids bounce right back. (They are 19 and 17 now)

Congratulations to you and your family. Absolutely beautiful little guy!

Our son was born with a similar condition (42 years ago) and the main thing is that it got recognized right when it did, so the Doctor's could monitor it. The lad grew up healthy and strong, with no corrective action ever having to be taken. I pray the same for your Rylan.

Wishing you all the very best,

Congratulations on another Grandson. Thought a Prayers are with you and your famile. Have granddaughter who gave us a big scare after her birth. She is a healthy happy 9 year old going on 16 she thinks. He twin brother had a ear that wasn't completly finished and now has an ear the look close to real and he can hear out of it. Took a couple surgeries to fix but his is health also. Babies are stronger than we give them credit for.

Congratulations, Grand-Pappy! The first pic shows he's still announcing his arrival.

How soon until you have him out in the Playpen?

They released both Rylan and Jessica from the hospitals today. Michael dropped Hunter and Aidan at the house with GrandMa and took Jessica to Austin to pick up Rylan.

They visited a little while when they came to pick up the boys. Jessica was tired and needed to get home and rest. We did manage to get a few pics taken.
