    Seeking support for ADA.

Friends, I generally refrain from disclosing personal details however this fight I think warrants it. Several years ago I was diagnosed as type 2 diabetic. Too many years of sitting on my but driving semi trucks and eating poorly caught up with me. 2 years ago i bought a bike. 1 year ago I started keeping track of my cycling distance and posting it to Facebook so that friends would know if I was slacking or not. Since that time I have managed to log in excess of 3,000 miles and have also managed my disease. While looking for group riding opportunities I stumbled upon a national event put on by the American Diabetes Association in many places around the country including Spokane, WA the city I grew up in. I have signed up to ride their 100 mile ride on May 20. I am seeking donations to help them fight this disease and hopefully some day find a cure. I am sure based on the demographics of this forum that we have many members who are suffering from this disease. Most of you that are not likely have close friends that are. Please consider supporting this cause. You may do so by clicking here.

Thanks Chris! I hope we have dry weather for the ride. It is a pretty good bet though that it will be nice and sunny if not outright hot. Either way it should be a great ride for a worthy cause.

I have good friend/coworker who live in Post Falls. Might have to fly up and see him and cheer you on. Good Luck, pace yourself.

Good Luck! It's great that you control it through a healthy lifestyle.
I have a family member that deals with Type 2 through exercise and medicine.

I have a friend that was a pro cyclist and rode on Team Type 1 for 2 years. He currently rides on Team Jelly Belly.

Tom (TB Roye) it would be great to meet you! drop me a PM if you do decide to do this. Perhaps we could have a small BT3Central meet and greet somewhere between Spokane and N. Idaho on May 19. Eric lives not too far away from there.

An update: as of this morning I have raised $493. for this cause. Thanks to all that have donated! This will be a great ride for me, I should even be ready for it by then. Last month I logged just over 400 miles. Woodworking has helped me do this in that a friend needed a kitchen full of cabinets and I needed a new bike; we made a trade. I'm waiting for pics from him so I can post that in completed projects.

An update and almost 11th hour plea.

Thanks to my wonderful friends including several here at BT3Central I am currently at $718. raised for the American Diabetes Association. I still hope to reach my goal of $1100. by the day before the ride (May 20). My oldest son is also joining me on this ride and since we just helped him buy a new bike will be riding the full 100 miles behind, along side and in front of me. I greatly appreciate the sacrifices friends have made on my behalf and hope and pray that we are making a difference. Thanks to all for your support in this effort.
