I found a lot of beer & vodka bottles (some beer bottles were unopened), a t-square, and one box of .45 caliber pistol shells in the rafters and walls of my old house. Pretty mundane stuff compared to gold and quarters.

Never found any Nazi Gold, but I did find a dead chipmunk in my crawlspace once, they were probably more excited finding the gold than I was.

That's interesting. I was surprised about the related story of the Spanish gold - http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/lif...-it-gets-gold/

It seems to be a shame that the treasure-hunter has to return the find that had been lost for 200+ years - probably without compensation for the costs of recovering the treasure.

I've never found anything of much value.

I put a model of a B-29 in the ceiling of my fathers basement. Mum sold the house after dad passed away and I left the model there. I wonder if the new owners ever found it?

I never found anything that cool when rennovating a house...

But if I did, I darn sure wouldn't say anything about it. After all, if no one claims it there's still the IRS, and I think it's a 50% tax rate for windfall profits!

I agree. The windfall profits tax is long gone, but I know that if I opened up a wall, ceiling, etc. and found a fortune - I sure wouldn't call the newspaper.

Well, they may not have a windfall tax anymore, but I would still bet it'd be counted as income. I don't know about you, but that'd bump me up a few brackets.

                          Found Treasure??

Was walking along an old forest service road in northern Idaho years ago and found a 1863 Indian head penny. Lost my smile when the guy at the coin store told me; "boy that would have been a real find if it were a 1861 coin; this one they minted about a million! Oh well,eh!

I've found a few tools, a hammer, some clamps, that sort of thing that have probably been in my attic since the house was built... Plus the wide selection of odd woodworking projects, one that is as best I can tell, a plant hanger, or something of the sort. Since the guy I bought the house from wasn't exactly handy, I am sure it wasn't him that made these things... I also found an assortment of Christmas decorations, and that kind of stuff...

No sacks of gold coins yet, but I will keep looking!
