WebOS may be in limited support from here on out (and it's not yet determined what the actual status is), but it was still an excellent buy. The actual OS is fantastic, there just needs to be more people who will put in the effort to help it along - and now there's a huge base that will.
WebOS had great homebrew support for it before, and I'm sure it will continue to.Comment

Well... If you're able to upgrade your device yourself you're fine, but once tied to wireless service you may be stuck with whatever their OTA update schedule looks like. Lots of folks have had to wait many months for OS updates (smartphones more than on tablets) meaning there is market fragmentation. That is sort of a form of non-standardization if that's what he was getting at?To a certain, and mind you limited extent I agree with the no standard thing. But "Android" as an operating system is only from a single vendor (Google) and thus is in itself "Standardized". Where deviations occour is in the fact that Android itself is based on Linux, and heavily reliant on Open Source software, and Open Standards.Comment

Apparently HP is getting more of them in a 2nd run of the device.

As a webOS developer, I was disappointed in their decision to discontinue everything after buying Palm a while back. We're a die-hard bunch but many developers have left for other platforms, market share dictates we do so if you want to make any money. But there still are a good number that purchased touchpads cheap like everyone else and would now just develop for fun and personal satisfaction that the general public will benefit from as well.
Get 'em while you can, it's a nice device even without a fruit logo."Why are there Braille codes on drive-up ATM machines?"Comment

I've not done any coding, but I downloaded the SDK and I'm going to play around with it.Apparently HP is getting more of them in a 2nd run of the device.
