Well now that he's gone we should immediately withdraw our troops and any support from Afghanistan and Pakistan and quit funding or support to Pakistan in any type of financial aide and put them on a terrorist support list and blacklist them from any type of gov't support . That country as well as Afghanistan will more than likely self-destruct in a few more yrs anyways. Lets put those billions of dollars we are spending there into putting up the best defense possible here at home.

I just wanted to chime in to agree with someone who is disagreeing with someone who's agreeing with a disagreement that someone agrees. (Time for me to start drinking now so I can figure out what I just said.)

I was fairly shocked and sadened this morning by the reaction at Ground Zero and the White House. I'm glad that it hasn't spread and today's "news tone" has been more analytical than emotional.

I think everyone can agree that killing him was at many levels necessary, warrented and justified. The world is a better and hopefully safer place without him in it.

We still have a long way to go to protect ourselves from this and future crops of terrorists, but the important lession is to not debase our values in the process.

One interesting thing I noticed was that a majority of the vocal celebrators looked to be 25 and under. I wonder how if it is due to the being young or the fact that since they were a very young impressionable age that this affected them more than me and most of my friends who are older.

IMHO, I'm glad he is gone, I think he deserved it but I don't feel the need to take joy in his assassination because that won't undo the actions that were set into motion on Sept 11th and bring the innocent people back to life.

OBL "resisting capture" was a better outcome than most for us on several levels, but it also was the right play for him. So while I think it's a good thing overall I don't think it was the best case scenario. A bomb, or sniper, or turncoat killing him while he hid in a cave or a compound takes away the martyr fighting to the death BS image.

Heads of state/government are legitimate targets for attack or capture. When you setup a would-be multi-national political (terrorist) organization you're essentially filling the same role, and you're running the same risks. Don't want to surrender when the SpecOps guys are knocking on your door? Then by all means resist, and live with (or not) the consequences.

Personally, I'll lift one for the SEALs, spooks, and all of the support folks who made this happen. Thanks guys!

reports are that the SEALS attempted to capture, gave the opportunity to surrender, and when refused took him out.

Well, we got him... in many ways I wish that we had taken him alive and then held him in some remote location until his hanging for crimes against humanity, but "dead" works too. I would be surprised if he were not stripped of any of his rights to a proper Muslim funeral. I believe that it is against their religion to murder other Muslims. In any case, he did not derserve to be buried at sea or any where else with any measure of respect.

The point is that they will know that we will carry through on our promises and that no matter how long it takes, there is no where that you can hide and no where that we won't get you!

On a related subject, I thought of this last night when they were declaring the news and thought it a bit ironic... and I'm surprised that none of the media has picked up on this: They hit us on 9/11.... somewhat planning for and liking the symbolism of our 9-1-1 emergency call. I wonder if they see the "symbolism" in the fact that we took him out on "MayDay" a much older and still used radio "emergency" voice call.

May he NEVER rest in his everlasting HE!!.
