"Square silicone steamer for both microwave and oven use"
    ...
"9.5 inches by 7.75 inches by 3.5 inches"

how can it be square and have those dimensions?

Obviously the person that wrote that has never heard of a rectangle. Make them take second grade over again...

My guess is that it's the package dimensions, or that "square" is referring to the internal shape and it has handles or something else to throw off the length.

You read it incorrectly. It will only steam square silicones, not the round ones.

Well unless it's "round", it MUST be "square", especially if it's got four sides. (There's a lot of people who don't know what a "rectangle" is, other than harder to say, and impossible to spell. )

All the squares I've used are triangle or "L" shaped. I don't think they'd make very good baking pans. On the other hand your food would come out at a perfect 90*.

A square is a two dimensional object, I doubt you could cook in it. I think polyhedron would be a more accurate description.

That was also my first impression Daryl until I looked up the definition. Sixth on the list for "square" was: "A solid object or piece approximating a cube." That was news to me.

For the record, it is possible. LOML has a dish that is like that and is square. Lots of "square" casserole dishes are like that. 2 opposite sides have a lip handle on them, extending two sides by almost an inch each while the "container" part is square.
