My wife grew up on Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands. Before her dad retired,
we were able to fly there and be there for several days. No internet, no
cable TV (other than the 2 Kwaj TV channels) but a great golf course. It
was actually some guy's job to be the golf pro on that course and another
course (called the "back nine") at the other end of the atoll. The course was
nestled between the ocean side (with an off-limits beach containing lots of
unexploded ordnance and the active airstrip where C-130s would take off and
land throughout the day. That's the most exclusive and secure course I've
ever played.
I looked up kwajalein atoll, Marshall islands on Google Earth. Figured I could find a golf course on a skinny 10-mile island... found it along side the airstrip (2nd photo).
The Golf course (back 9) on Roi at the northern end of the Islands looks much nicer. Leave you that excercise to find on your own.
I wonder how long it will be before I get an e-mail with that picture forwarded to me by someone in my family SWEARING that this is real, and the government has to keep it a secret from tax payers. Write your congressman NOW.
How would you like to play one that doest 30+ mph into the wind? Besides that it leans quite a bit in a fast turn. The commander of the ship has radio contact with the bridge and when his opponent makes a shot the ship moves a different direction and when the Commander makes a shot the ship moves so the shot lands middle of the fairway or green and he never has to putt up hill like the guys he is playing with unless it's the President and then the ship only leans left or right depending on who is the President and is always level for his putt.
