    The Million Dollar Speeding Ticket!

Ever wonder just how fast you would have to be going to get a million dollar speeding ticket? Apparently 300km/h! Here is a Swedish motorist in Switzerland as reported in an Australian newspaper. However you do the money conversion to USD it's still more than I make in a year.

300km/h speedster faces $1.1 million fine

Bad spedo, ha. probably the best excuse he could think of at the time. I would have said this is a toyocedes and the acelerator was stuck.

Kilometers x .6 = miles so he was only hitting around 180 mph.

that was one expensive ride! but, if you can afford a $500M sports car,i guess the ticket is just a cost of doing business. head for germany where i understand there are autobahns with no posted limits.
there's a solution to every problem.......you just have to be willing to find it.

The fine for speeding is a function of one's income? So, if the guy was unemployed / had a low income and committed the same offense on a crotch-rocket what would the fine be?

''We have no record of anyone being caught travelling faster in the country,'' said a police spokesman.

Being caught is the key phrase.

Another way to fine would be to seize the ride of anyone caught speeding.
So for the offender in the article it would be a $500,000 ticket (same ballpark as a $1M fine) and for the unemployed Crotch Rocket rider it would cost him his bike... a 200mph bike is not cheap, probably 10 grand at least?

Minnesota set a new record for top speeder caught last month. A guy in a Corvette was ticketed for 178MPH up nort. They didn't say what the fine was but I know from personal experience that you lose your license for six months at anything over 100. My dad was mad enough and if they'd have taken his car I'd be writing this through a ouija board.
