How Much Are Your License Plates?

Last year the tag for my 4'x8' trailer was $17.00, and this year it's $33.00.

The tag for my truck last year was $43.00, and this year it's $73.00.

    Talk about inflation.

One car, 45 bucks, same as always. Other car with vanity plates, 60 bucks, same as always. There are other plates you can get that have additional fees. Local college logos the money goes to the licensing and school. There are also some environmental groups you can support. There is also a HAM radio operator plate that displays your call sign.

Up here tags are around $80. Every second year you have to have emissions testing to get your tags. As for trailers, I only pay once for my 4x7 utillity trailer.

        I'm jealous of you guys:
        2006 Honda Pilot - $150
        2005 Nissan Sentra - $75

If you want vanity, college logo, or other specialty plates it's an additional $50.

I don't have a tag on my utility trailer, even though it's technically required now. The local PDs haven't started enforcing it yet...

$75 per vehicle here in WI.

When I was in the military and moved to Andrews AFB, MD, I was faced with a titling tax of 6% on my new minivan. I decided to register the car with my home state of record (TN), wisely saving $1400 in the process.

In Georgia your tag cost is based on the value of your car. This year it was $232 for a two year old Honda.

My plates in Texas run around $53 each for my wife's car and my pickup each year. We also have to do both safety and emissions testing each year at about $40 per vehicle here in Dallas.

2007 Scion tC and 2007 Toyota Rav/4. One (RAV I think) was $252 and the other was $189. Our light utility trailer has a lifetime tag. That was pretty cheap, maybe $35ish?

Way-back-when, our plates were much more expensive and on a more <cough> "progressive" scale. When Gov. Turnbuckle was in power one of the handful of things he accomplished was cutting the license fees way down and standardizing them. However, they've gone back up since then sadly.

PA gets $10 for my PU and $10 for LOML car, but only cause I'm both old and poor!!!!

If you're not retired, I think it is about $36 for a car and $56 for a PU but I won't swear to that.

I seem to recall that some states charge a property tax of some kind for vehicles in addition to the registration charge. Here is CA it's one charge, albeit a pertty high one for registration.
