    Toyota Tundra gloat

I finally got a Toyota Tundra! I have wanted one since they came out in 2000. Mine is a 2005, but looks brand new with 70,000 miles. I am confident it will go another 150,000! Awesome truck and lots of room with the 4 door crew cab.

    No pics, didn't happen.

Good score. I've been really jonesing for a truck for about a year now. I can borrow my wife's grandfather's, but I hate borrowing someone else's stuff.

      Better check that gas pedal!

I like the body style of the older Tundra (like yours) better than the new. Plus, having a crew cab is great! I have a crew cab Dodge Ram 1500, and love the thing. Got it for a steal of a price.

So, when you gonna show some pics?

Double check the NHTSA web site to make sure it isn't impacted by the gas pedal recall...

I really like the older Tundra versus the new one for sure. The new one has more HP for sure, but watching those go down a bump road is like watching a hula dancer... The older ones like yours are steady and smooth...

My only problem with most of the 'import' trucks is the lack of a real bed. most of them seem to be built with a 4-5' bed that won't hold much more than a few suitcases. But that seems to be the case with most of the newer domestic trucks, too. An extended cab with an 8' bed is almost non-existent unless you go to a dually.

That being said, I plan to buy another late moddel truck just before I retire in 5 years. I love my big Ram (except at the puimp) but I will be looking for a combination of features, power, economy, and reliability reputation when the time comesmore than manufacturer. Right now the Tundra seems to be about the best on the road.

Very nice! I wish I could justify a pickup (especially something as nice as a Tundra).

Look at Ford. The F-150 has had an 8' bed available with a Super Cab (but not the Super Crew) since 1997. I opted for the 6.5 foot bed since I can haul plywood with the tailgate down, and still get in and out of parking spaces a little easier...

Since 2006 the F-150 Super Crew has been available with the 6.5 foot bed. I am pretty sure I don't want to even see an 8' bed on a crew cab pickup though... That is just massive... If I have more than a few sheets to carry, I have a hitch and a cargo trailer...

I traded in my 96 F250 extended cab 4x4 diesel and my 01 Camry on an 05 Tundra double cab 4x4 with about 55k on it a little over 2yrs ago. Added a Leer canopy, and it's been a stout and dependable truck. Gas mileage isn't what I'd hoped for; I must have been looking at the numbers for the V6 tacoma.
All right, breaks over. Back on your heads!

I have an 08 sequoia, which uses many of the same drivetrain parts as a Tundra. Truck is just over 14 months old with 14000 miles. So far I really like the truck. I drove Fords (expeditions) for years and was very reluctant to change, now I wonder why I didn't years ago. I get nearly 20mph on the road about about 16 in town. Not bad for a 6000lb 4x4 381hp vehicle.

Did I mention it will run 0-60 in 6.6-6.8 seconds? Talk about a sleeper.

I have a 1995 Tacoma, with 150,000 miles. Original everything except starter. Yeah, they run for along time.

I'll see your 2005 Tundra, and raise ya a '96 F350 Crewcab-longbed diesel with an elk-catcher front end. 270K and running strong.

Great choice! I have a 2005 Access Cab SR5 V6 245hp and its been ultra reliable. I average between 18-20mpg and only wish the bed was deeper and longer. The newer Tundras are too big and heavy for the V6 engine.

Did that come with an automatic recall.
