    I'm Done!

I finished the last final exam in the last class for my Bachelor's degree this morning. It only took 11 years with a few career progressions and a couple military operations along the way.

Now I've got to join the real world again. Anybody know of some good job openings?

Not bad, it's taken me 18 years to get 2 Associates degrees, and a rather large collection of ASE, IMACA, Microsoft, Red Hat, CompTIA, and Branbench certifications...

I bet if you count them all in up classwork hours and testing, I probably have enough for a PhD.

Oh yeah, I'm 12 hours short of a Bachelors... With the job market the way it is, I might need to finish that up...

three years ago I had to make the choice of finish an associate's and get industry certifications or go to a 4 year and get a bachelor's. The timing was right for me to leave my full time job and make school my full time job. I have 9 years at community college and 2 at the university.

Congratulations! I'm about a dozen credits short myself. Now that I'm retiring maybe it's time to become a professional student — take the classes I want to, not the ones I need.

Congratulatons Tom! I didn't see your age on your profile, but I take it you have been around the block a few times. People don't know how hard it is for a non-traditional student to accomplish this. The schools are geared to young and mostly non-working or part-time employed students. For someone who is employed and has a family, it is very tough. I did it with 2 kids, working full time 40 + hours and on the graveyard shift. I graduated at age 46. I am glad I did it, but I would never consider it again.

                Again congratulations.

Congrats are in order! Quite an accomplishment in and of itself. If it never makes you another dime, you still did it!
