Are there any web sites that will teach some very basic phrases in foreign languages? Specifically, Polish this time?

I know a few in Spanish...but they are not the type you use in friendly company if you know what I meanOpportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. - Thomas Edison -
Living in Milwaukee I would think the local bar would be a good resource. Are you going to visit or do you just need to eat and motivate in Polish?
My dad could eat, work and motivate in 5 languages. He claimed you only needed about 30 words in each to do that. Proper pronunciation is important. Telling someone he buggers donkeys and having it come out wrong just doesn't have the impact.

Will you happen to be in Szczecin?
(Edit: If you happen to be going to Szczecin (Stettin) I would be ever so grateful if you could ask an old-timer where Stettin-Grünhof Heinrichstrasse 8.a.H.p. was and snap a picture for me if the building still exists. I believe Heinrichstrasse is now called Ofiar Oswiecimia about 1/2 mile north of the center of town.)Last edited by Alex Franke; 10-10-2009, 07:09 PM.online at http://www.theFrankes.com

No, I'm not visiting, I'm being visited. An gentleman (I'd say he is about 75) has come into the shop a couple of times. I think he is visiting a son or daughter in the neighborhood. Doesn't speak much English.
The last time he was in he was asking for directions to a bakery. Using hand signs. I know I got that one right because on his way home he tapped on the window and had a big smile on his face and was pointing to his bag.Comment

I think we often fall a little short on that courtesy here in the USA...
