I used to wear one all the time. The quality depended what I was doing at the time, even one that was attached upside down to a carabiner which hooked to a belt loop.

When I shattered all my left wrist bones and was in a cast and 3 operations for months, I stopped. Since I've gotten better, I really dont bother with one.

The cell phone has taken its place.

I've had one since 7th grade, too. It was a Casio with a 30 name phone
directory. That one lasted until senior year college with only one battery
change in between. Went to a Swiss Army watch after that until it died last
year. I was watchless for a few months until a year ago when I went to a
Citizen all titanium watch. It's for telling time primarily, but dang if it ain't
      perty, too.

I only wear it out and to work, but not while around the house. I can't stand
checking my cell for the time.

I used to ware a watch every day. However, no jewelery or watches are allowed in the clean rooms at work. I spend 5 to 7 days a week there, so I have gotten so used to not wearing one and checking my work pager or cell phone for time, that a watch feels funny, so I don't even try to wear one any more.

I'm not retired, but I chose that option.

I used to wear a watch when I was younger, mostly so I could find out how long until class was over. Since then I've learned that it doesn't matter what time it is.

I started wearing Timex Ironman watches when still on active duty. I set them to the naval Observatory at the time changes and never had one more than 2-3 seconds off. I have gone through several over the years. Usually the buttons quit working from sweat and dirt or the plastic parts around the face broke. The styling had changed when my last one gave out and I couldn't find one I liked. While looking, I got used to not having one on and started to rely on my phone.

Now I have Waltham and Citizen dress watches, both of which need batteries, in a box on my dresser.

For me, some old habits are hard to change. I tried a pocket watch once but hated the extra motion of grabbing it, opening it and then reading. Just wasn't natural. With a flip of the wrist, I can see the time. I know I have the time on my cell phone but I don't keep it on me when I am around the house or in the shop. When I do, grabbing it to look for the time would be like the wasted motion of looking at a pocket watch.

Not that much difference, but still as often as I check the time between meetings, for the next appointment, acknowledge appointments and to estimate times for travel and between appointments, - grabbing the cell phone each time would be a step backwards. Plus I can't tell you how often I check "time" on my watch while talking on the phone. Imagine telling someone - "Wait a second while I check the time and clock on this phone so that I can tell you when I will be there."

I've been wearing a watch for 48 years. I wear it all the time except when I shower. Sometimes I have left it on even then. I cannot stand not to have a watch. I have worn out 2 Seikos, and I would have another one if I can find another in digital, which I probably can't.

I wear a watch except when I'm in the shower. For years I wore a Seiko I was given when I left the firm I worked at for 16 years, but it seized up because I'd wear it cycling. My cell phone is generally turned off and when it's on, it's not in my pocket.

The digital Timex I'm wearing now is acceptable but it does not keep really accurate time. I'll reset it periodically to the time on my airplane's GPS, which is pretty accurate for the same reason cell phone clocks are accurate.

I always leave my watch on Pacific time no matter where I happen to be. Never had a problem knowing the local time.

                    Thanks for the memories.
I used to wear a pocket watch. My jeans (haven't wore them in years), had a spot for them. Not all have/had lids (mine didn't), but you then had to watch against leaning or damaging the crystal. The bad thing for me as the chain would snag (and they aren't that big/thick), and break.
Now, the pants I wear don't have a spot for them, and several LEO's recommended the style/brand watch I wear. It has to handle the abuse they have to give/take.

I used to wear one almost every day but when I started working at my current job because I am washing dishes and in water most of the time rinsing out wash cloths and things like that its just easier that I don't wear one. I do carry my cell with me in my apron pocket but just use the clock on the wall at work and when home I use the computer or tv to see the time.

Had to answer other. Stopped wearing a watch when I had carpal tunnel surgery. Depended first on a pocket watch, and then on cell phones. Having recently been prescribed cardio rehab exercise classes - I quickly found out that I really hate taking my own pulse. Solved the problem by buying a watch with a built in heart rate monitor function. I was only going to wear it while exercising, but it didn't bother my wrist so I've gotten back into wearing it full time. Check my heart rate a lot, now that I can

I picked other... I wore a watch on the wrong (right) hand from 5th or 6th grade through college or so. However it was causing discomfort in my wrist once I made it out into the work world where I needed to use a computer all day.

Now I'll generally just check my cell or a wall clock, but I do occasionally put a watch on if I have all-day meetings where I may want to check the time more discreetly...

Since I was in 3rd grade which was 57 years ago. I had a cheap Timex. I wore a Timex divers watch in Vietnam and after.. In the mid 80's I switched to Casio divers watchs for around $20 which may or may not lose 2 seconds a year as I check it with correct time about once a week.

I wear is in the shop.. in the shower and sleep with it on. I don't wear any rings or other jewelry. No cell phone and don't intend to get one. But... 24/7 with a watch....

I wear a watch 5 days a week at work. Usually do not on the week end as it would likely get damaged. I've worn a watch since about '70 when Speidel bands were popular. About 4-5 years ago I bought an Elgin automatic with a Swiss movement that I am guessing was made in the 50's or 60's. Still runs great, after the weekend of sitting on the dresser it is dead but after my shower Monday morning, by the time I leave for work it is wound up enough to set before I go. When I got that watch it had a leather band. I wanted a Speidel and was able to find one but noticed that the metal flexible sprung ones are getting scarce.

I wear a watch all the time & carry a cell phone all the timt also, but I rarely use my cell phone to tell time. I wear a Casio G-Shock that has a short in that when ever I twist my wrist to see what time it is, the display automatically lights up. Pretty useful at night & it freaks some people out.

An interesting side note. I was on a trip recently & stayed in a hotel right off an interstate exit where the interstate was the time zone. My nephew told me that cell phone time adjusted automatically (within a minute or two) & sure enough it adjusted everytime we crossed the interstate. Kinda cool I thought.
