    Bad Gas?

I have about 3 gal of gasoline that was mixed 50:1 for my 40hp Johnson. This stuff is about 15 months old and had Sta-bil mix in with it. I just had my carbs cleaned on the motor and I didn't want to risk screwing them up again. I filtered this old gas though a coffee filter and it was clean however i had about a quart of water in the bottom of the tank which I removed. The question is how should I dispose of the old gas? Could I use it by mixing in with good fuel?
Say 1/2 gal per 5 gal? and using it on the boat or in the lawn mower. If not how do I get rid of this fuel. other than by BOOM?

    Thanks
    ron

Mix it w/ your car's gas, using a 1:10 ratio.

      NOOOO!

Unless you have an older, pre computer controlled car do NOT mix any oil with your gasoline! That has a very high probability of fouling the O2 sensors, and while not the most expensive, that is not a cheap thing to fix just to burn off some old gas...

My local "Advance Auto" parts store accepts used oil and petroleum products (which includes gasoline).

If you have one near you, give them a call.

Yikes, then I withdraw my advice.

I was told an occasional burning of 500:1 was perfectly safe by a fairly well regarded automotive engineer. But I don't want to pay for anyone's o2 sensors.

On further reflection, I can't even believe I suggested burning it in the car when BOOM was on the table.

I like the boom too, but I would probably dilute it into regular gas for the lawn mower.

I have used old fuel like that in my outboard without a problem. but I do have a water separator filter on my boat and a 140 hp has far larger jets. mix it at least with 50% new fuel and you wont have a problem. You could also install an inline auto fuel filter in the fuel hose and then no worry.

Sorry Phil, I was thinking oil, not oil / gas mixture...

Actually 500:1 would probably be fine. No worse than the typical contaminants in the gas mix from your local convenience store pumps... Or worse yet, the overly high concentrations of Ethanol in our alleged gasoline these days... But I am particularly paranoid about items like O2 sensors and catalysts... They can get kind of expensive and are touchy at best...
