How many veterans and current military are here?

I have noticed that a lot of the members here have some kind of military background and it got me thinking how many there actually are.

I've been in the Army for just over 19 years and have served in Ft. Knox, KY. Ft. Riley, KS. Ft. Rucker, AL., Camp Red Cloud, Korea. Ft. Drum, NY. Giebelstadt, Germany. Ft. Campbell, KY. and now I am in a desk job in Renton, WA. I also served in Operation Desert Shield/Storm, Kosovo and Afghanistan.

Air Force for just shy of 10 years. From 1978 - 1988. Because of the timing, I technically don't qualify as a veteran.

StepSon just got back yesterday from Mid East somewhere. Can't/won't tell us where. He been in 21 years AF. His wife just retired AF. SIL returning back from Afghanistan (Army, 9 years) within the week. LOML Army Vet Vietnam era.

Closest I came was 2 years of ROTC. I took the physical for advanced and was deemed 4F. Otherwise I would have been in Nam.

I salute and thank those that have been in the military also. My family has a long line of service in every war all the way back to the Indian wars and Revolutionary War. My dad is a WWII Vet.

Nonsense. You may not be in a "protected employee group" but you are still a veteran and so am I: US Navy, 1984-1993.

USAF 1948-1968. I'll bet I retired (from the military, that is) before many of the members were born.
