    Darn!

I ordered a router bit Tuesday morning Jul 14. Checked the more expensive USPS priority mail (2-3 days) to get it this Weekend to use.

    Got acknowledegment right aways.
Got shipping notice on the 16th, noonish. But the post office didn't report receiving the item until the 17th 7PM, even though it registered electronic messages saying it was coming, on the 16th.

Needless to say, it wasn't in the mailbox Friday or today (the 18th).

    was i expecting too much?

It's happened a few times, seems more frequent lately. What really pisses me off is when I pay for expedited shipping and it takes them a week to get of their ass! Hello, I didn't pay $50 for shipping so you could sit on it for a week.

that's what got me going... if they're going to offer 2-3 day shipping then they shouldn't wait 2-3 days before they take it to the shipper.

Some companies stink.. I had stuff shipped from 1 state away that took over a week and things from the midwest was at my door in 2 or 3 days. What really annoys me is when a local company ships a part to me from the west coast and I paid for ground shipping because they are local.

I'd say it all depends on how the company is setup. I know a lot of times to get something "quick" you have to call.

Even then, sometimes you get an idiot. (a friend called and ordered a commercial mixer part to be OVERNIGHTED to them, three days later they called and asked WTF was it, and the guy said, "oops, my mistake, I'll ship it out tomorrow". To which he really blew his lid (you will ship it out today, overnight, your expense, since I ordered it for two days ago, and it is hard to open without a working mixer).

I would call and talk to someone and ask how to mark the order in the future, so they know YOU MEAN WHAT YOU SAY.

Fuss LOUDLY at the seller, and try to get your shipping costs back.

As much of a pain as it is to wait, there are GOOD reasons I take the free shipping from Amazon and other vendors. I have paid through the teeth for online order shipping in the past, and gotten hosed nearly every time, with the item not arriving a minute sooner than the stuff I order with free shipping...

I'm in the same spot this weekend, except that I picked the free ground shipping on Monday and was hoping for a miracle. UPS says my Rockler order will get here tomorrow, which is close to this weekend but not close enough.

USPS Priority Mail does not guarantee 2-3 day shipping.. It's just a best effort.

                      Golly . . . . .

And all you guys live in the "contiguous 48 states". You should sit back and enjoy all the quick and inexpensive shipping (relatively speaking).

                      Regards, Steve

I had a similar issue awhile back. I ordered something 3 day air UPS over the phone to a real person. The company failed to tell me they drop ship from the manufacturer. Priority shipping has no influence on order fills at the manuf., so 5 days later they shipped it 3 day air!
I needed it sooner so I sourced a more expensive replacement locally.
                        I complained loudly
they pointed out that their website does say it takes up to a week to ship.
I pointed out that I ordered over the phone and they never supplied me with a tracking number when requested. "I'll call you back"
They pointed out that their website states it takes a week to ship. They'd gladly allow me to return them for a 25% restocking fee and I'd have to pay the return shipping.
I finally spoke to a manager who agreed to take the order back and refund everything but the shipping. It was a $50 parts order with $30 shipping at the end so I was out $20.

I would have just refused the first order when it showed up and disputed the cc charge.

                            Loring,
I've had several experiences like yours, and therefore now refuse to order anything priority. I'll wait out the normal shipping time, and plan around the worst case instead of letting these (IMHO) deceptive or incompetent (gotta be one or the other) practices screw with my blood pressure.
