    Garage sale find

I am not much of a yard sale person but as I was driving down my street on Saturday morning something caught my eye so I stopped. I went right to the small DC sitting off to the side by itself. The lady came over to me as I was looking at it and asked me if I wanted to take it in the garage and plug it in. I did and everything checked out just great so I ended up bringing it home with me.

She said her ex husband moved out about 6 months ago and he left it in the crawl space. She said if it was that important to him he would have took it with him.

I do not really need it but decided to buy it and I think I am going to make it a dedicated unit for my lathe.

ha. good catch. wish I had a little unit like that for the tools on the far side of the garage. I guess the old shop vac will have to do for a while longer.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

I have almost that same exact unit, also from a garage sale. Build a separator for it. The intake is that port on the side. There is a grid over it that gets clogged with anything over the size of sawdust. I plan to build a frame over mine and have the separator sit above the unit on the frame.

Your garage sale find reminds me of the $100 Corvette story which is an urban legend. Similar scenario: Guy finds ad in local paper showing late model Corvette for sale $100.Thinking it a joke, guy drives out to address in ad and finds a nearly new Corvette.Woman comes out and confirms car is indeed for sale for $100. When asked why so cheap, she said her ex told her to sell the car and send him the money!!!!

            This will make you cry...
Neighbor was driving through Santa Rosa CA (sp?) and needed gas. Got lost and drove by a garage sale. He told me they had a lot of Monkey Wards tools for sale at $50 each. I asked if he was sure they were Wards, he said Yup they all had Powermatic on them!

Wow, even if they were Wards Powr-Kraft tools, many of those were built by solid manufacturers like Rockwell and Logan.

But I get a little achy thinking about Powermatic tools being sold for one Grant each.

That useful kind of ignorance doesn't seem to be found in my neighborhood.
