    Washer w/ no center hole?

I need a washer with no center hole. I'd like it to be approx. 1/2" in diameter. Maybe 1/32" thick (thickness not too critical).

I tried looking on McMaster for some sort of undrilled washer but couldn't find anything.

I tried using a dime, but it is a little large for my needs.

    Any ideas?

A punch out from a metal electrical box. Then cut/grind it down.

Try searching from metallic discs, or flat plugs or other name.

Does it have to be steel? Maybe a plug cutter & some aluminum or brass sheet stock might work.

Sparkyjames, that will be my last resort.

Lee, the discs at McMaster are enormous.

Pelligrini, steel would be ideal. Aluminum/brass may be too soft.

Here is a question: Are there any foreign coins smaller than a U.S. dime? Anything made out of steel would be ideal.

Check the local auto supply that carries body shims for lining up fenders... etc. They came in about any thickness you want. Probably don't sell one individual so check with a auto body shop if you know someone and I would bet they would just give you one.

              Good luck...

I know that you don't want to go this route but it might be helpful if you need a long term supply: Grizzly has a manual/hand hole punch set that has several sizes to punch a hole close to the size. They are for punching holes but if the plug is cleanly cut, it might do what you want.

Besides, this would be a good chance to get a new tool!

I think what you are looking for is called a "blank" or informally a "slug". I don't know where to buy one but if you've got any friends with a metal lathe and a parting tool it lt would take seconds to make.

You don't say what the constraints are:
                      Quantity, price, thickness, flatness, tolerances.
If I wanted washers and price was no problem, I'd go to Boker's, a washer/stampings specialist.
