    Buying a Nintendo Wii

After holding out all this while, I have to give up and get my girls a Wii.

But I am not sure what is the minimal bundle I have to buy : how many remotes does it come with? How many are needed? Is the Nunchuck (sounds like a religious crime!) a necessity? Do I need more than one? Which games are good?

We are a family of four, and I expect to get LOML to use it too, at least the Fit or other 'sporty' games.

Finally, where to buy? Walmart lists it, as does Target; but CL seems to a ton of offers, though not at great discounts.

The WII comes with one controller and nunchuck. You need both for some of the games. It comes with the WII Sport. It has bowling, tennis, golf, boxing, and baseball( I think). We bought the WII Play and it came with a second set of controllers. Make sure you use the wrist strap when playing!

We also have WII fit. You need the balance board for that but it should come together. As for games, it depends what you are into. We have Mario Cart, Nascar Cart Racing, WII music, WII Play, and a couple of others that the kids play.

We bought ours at Future Shop but Best Buy carries it too( at least here in Canada). If can find a store that resells games, check it out as usually the games are good as new, just no plastic wrapper.

We purchased ours a couple years ago at Xmas. We went to Sams, and purchased a kit with three remotes and three nunchucks. I purchased one more remote so the entire family can play.

We also have fit, and guitar hero. The stuff isn't inexpensive, but it does get used.

I think the base price is the same everywhere--$250. We got ours this last Christmas. Everyone told us we would play it a few months and quit. We still play it all the time and love it. Bowling is a lot of fun. So is the golf, but you can't follow through, and it drives me nuts...

I second the Wii play, so you can get the second controller. I think you still need (not need, but nice to have) to buy the second nunchuck.

You can also buy Wii points to download games. We did, and bought the original Super Mario game for the NES. I can play that for hours. It's also nice that you can play Gamecube games (as long as you have a GC controller) which are pretty cheap.

Since you have girls, they're going to want Dance Dance Revolution. It comes with one dance mat and needs a remote and a nunchuck. If you add dance mats, you can have up to four, you need an additional remote and nunchuck for each player.

We got our Wii at Christmas a year and half ago and it still sees almost daily use.
